chuck schumer would much rather give in to every republican whim than create a situation where democratic voters want more from him. being the lesser of two evils is his dream job and the worse republicans get and the worse the average person’s life gets the easier that job becomes.

Wednesday— I Was Trying to Describe You to Someone: The kind of record the descriptor “promising” was made for. It’s not fully there yet, but it’s easy to see the ingredients that would make them the incredible band they’d become.

Bluetile Lounge— Half-Cut: Superlative slowcore that is among the most gorgeous the subgenre, not short on gorgeous records, has ever produced. The occasional Mogwai-like use of dynamics creates some awe-inspiring moments.

Oysterhead— The Grand Pecking Order: Not to sound like a 40 year old man but this album by the Primus / Phish / Police supergroup fucking rules (and it sounds exactly how you think it does)

Shakti With John McLaughlin— Shakti: There are moments when McLaughlin’s virtuosic flurries of notes get in the way of his expressiveness, but on the whole this is pretty exceptional, a fusion of Indian classical music and jazz that never feels gimmicky or forced.
