Bluetile Lounge— Half-Cut: Superlative slowcore that is among the most gorgeous the subgenre, not short on gorgeous records, has ever produced. The occasional Mogwai-like use of dynamics creates some awe-inspiring moments.

Oysterhead— The Grand Pecking Order: Not to sound like a 40 year old man but this album by the Primus / Phish / Police supergroup fucking rules (and it sounds exactly how you think it does)

Shakti With John McLaughlin— Shakti: There are moments when McLaughlin’s virtuosic flurries of notes get in the way of his expressiveness, but on the whole this is pretty exceptional, a fusion of Indian classical music and jazz that never feels gimmicky or forced.
