Nostalgic about internet serendipity before the 2009/2010 "social media gurus." Interested in: houseplants, food, austen, trollope, heyer, christie, sayers, quilting, poetry, cocktails, asd, panel shows. Am considered charming. Aging okay.

The new view from here. There are about 20 more plants not in view, but it's fairly nicely contained.
I had the oddest craving for fried tofu while at work today, so I came home and made some.

Now I'd like petit fours, but I don't think I'll be making those.

Hey, I'm here to support your posts about the villains in our government and also all your cool creative projects, but am personally in a very mundane place right now. Do you see the plywood in the back right of my balcony? I can't decide what to do with it, paint on it or etc. Suggestions welcome.

Now that I have a small west-facing balcony, I'm not sure what will grow, but I've got some houseplants out there, petunias, herbs, cherry tomatoes, a lunchbox pepper plant, and these marigolds. I'm gonna post a picture of that later with a question for anyone who has good ideas about things. :-)

I just discovered MeTV shows an hour of old cartoons every morning at 7 eastern, with a host team of person and salty puppet, seems like a good way to get started for the day rather than sound bites of tangled idiocy.

I'd probably spend more time here if not for the daily 8-step process to get logged in again. No other site I use makes me do this. Anyway. On the way to work this morning I heard I Wanna Be Sedated by The Ramones, on 1st Wave. And on the way home I heard Rock and Roll High School. Interesting, idk.

I listened to the first track, so intriguing, looking forward to hearing the rest after work today when I can properly hear a good album. Neil Tennant's voice melds perfectly with the instrumentation.
Mark Springer’s new album “Sleep of Reason”, featuring a collaboration with Neil Tennant, is released today on CD, vinyl and streaming services at the link below.

I just caught the scent of irises on the air, in the wind, and it was a lovely little surprise especially since I'm in a grocery store parking lot and there are no irises nearby...

Does anyone who might see this know how I can stop having to sign in here every day on my Macbook? The phone, not an iPhone, stays logged in.

Hey, it's meant to be sunny today! 😀 But not tomorrow. 🙄

I was looking to see if I've ever written a cheery spring poem, but I guess not. I will try.

Baby Mourning Dove Update: they are two shelves below their nest and really not ready for more. Also I think they don't know about Up yet. But they will still be fed.

When I signed up here, I planned to have lots of positive energy to share, and then things went, you know, as they did and are doing. It's been rough. But I do want to share that the baby mourning doves are quite grown, able to wait alone while their parents get food for them. So they'll fly soon!

Here @arrivatozampano.bsky.social I made a post, changed to just person I mentioned, and then mentioned just you. Now I'm adding the screenshot where it told me how. But it is kind of dumb.

I think Wes Anderson is somehow parodying himself in this new film, at least from a look at the trailer, and I, for one, cannot wait. Also, the musical score sounds fantastic. #filmsky

I have nothing much to say, nothing important, other than to let you know the mourning dove is still safe in her nest after the latest big storm. I might have a poem in me about that. Otherwise, I am enjoying watching lots of penguin videos that people post.

Happy little project.

Today as part of my Strictly Local spring vacation, I had tea at Fulton Yards, got lunch from Eli's BBQ, and ended up at Cincy Book Rack, where I found a book I'm puzzled to realize I never read. Weird. Anyway, good day, and the sun did appear, eventually.

I'm on my spring vacation so I've come to Pioneer Cemetery across from Lunken Airport, to have some good urban nature time. #Cincinnati

I'm starting my spring vacation week, and I've been celebrating since I got home by watching many episodes of Columbo and Monk on Cozi TV. And I found a blog which reviewed Columbo episodes, including the one I'm watching now. I still love a fun chatty blog about old stuff. Peak internet.
Episode review: Columbo The Most Crucial Game
Bad Bobby Culp is back and – joy of joys – he’s badder than ever! But is The Most Crucial Game a Superbowl of an episode, or a tepid mid-table tussle? Let’s see…

The mourning doves who won my balcony are nesting now, one is sitting on it as I type, and I learned some things about that which seem both good and bad to me. But I will have to keep an eye out to see the babies, because their whole process goes really quickly.

It's World Poetry Day, and I've been grooving my way through "Song of Myself" by Walt Whitman, which fills me with such immense awe that I always have to take it in measured doses.

I don't know when or how the battle for better freedom will be won, but there is always poetry. #poetrysky

I've been missing my blog, so I updated it today with a brief thought. It's just a journal of thoughts, sometimes serious, often silly, no particular theme, pretty old-fashioned for 2025. But I'd be pleased to share these bits of myself with anyone who might find them interesting.
Reaching for the ground
It's been 16 months since I wrote anything in this space. I don't know whether anyone else much liked it, but I enjoy revisiting my thoughts from time to time, and decided I could add more of them. It...

Today I will be going over to my son's family's house to cook a roast chicken dinner, which will be waiting for them when they arrive home. And I get to make dessert with my grandson, who is two and a half, and loves to stir. I wish all my grandkids lived near, but we must appreciate what we have.

Last week I made the King Arthur Flour no knead everything bread and I liked it so much, I'm making it again today, but split in two so I can give half away. I can't eat it all myself.
