i'm so, SO grateful for my job that, though my colleagues in NYC are asked to come in 2-3 days/week right now, i am permanently remote. and even when i was in the office they were SO flexible about stuff

now, directors were told they have to be in 2 days/week. so they're making all their direct reports come in 2 days/week. the stupidest part is my husband's team is international he's literally driving into the office to sit on Teams for 8hrs.

prior to the pandemic, his whole department was remote. had been remote for years. during the pandemic? remote. about a year ago HR decided people needed to come back 1 day/week. no department is allowed to be remote anymore.

It was the one and only time I considered putting a hotel room on a credit card for a night because of how miserable it was. I hope the winds pass swiftly and the fire is contained.

Used to live in a glorified shed in someone's backyard during college, spent a miserable night listening to the winds howl choosing between windows open + dust everywhere to bring it to 95 degrees, or closed windows and no dust but suffer through it being 99 degrees.

I just need someone to tell me what my best option is right now 😩 I'm 2.5yrs away from undergrad PSLF and 4.5yrs from grad but currently stuck b/c of the SAVE injunction
