STRONGLY AGREE. the act of discussing something and pulling apart your own thoughts on it in a neutral way without actually having any emotional connection or ulterior motive seems impossible to most neurotypical buds. feels like a MASSIVE DIVIDE between autistic buckaroos and neurotypical buckaroos
Tangential, but I've always found "I am observing an arguably-negative aspect of this thing, but I'm not complaining about it and still like the thing just fine" to be one of the most difficult autistic thoughts to communicate to non-autistic people. I appreciate your technique for handling it here.

Okay so, yeah, I just saw "someone" wearing a Chuck Tingle mask walking by and I asked to take a photo. And the guy was like, "Oh, you want a selfie?" so we take a really quick selfie, and I ACTUALLY say to the guy, "I'm just gonna pretend you're the real Chuck Tingle."
