Finally got around to “The Gorge.” A surprisingly entertaining and interest movie…for the first half. I really enjoyed the minimal dialogue/Rear Wondow-esc romance/thriller we were setting up. Sadly it all falls apart when we become a sci-fi action horror mess. Good potential, bad landing, 3/5

“Captain America: Brave New World” is neither “brave” nor “new.” Afraid to do anything meaningful in this climate; its editing is rough, pacing is choppy and special effects at varying degrees of complete. A victim of massive rewrites and reshoots, it’s sadly forgettable. Mackie deserves better 2/5

Kendrick Lamar’s #SuperBowl   performance was inspired by PlayStation 🎮

“Each performance space was shaped like a button on a PlayStation-style controller, a performance intended to portray Lamar’s life as a video game”

Give me a “Hogwarts: Legacy” style Shiz with side quests, special missions and a final mission in the Emerald City; chefs kiss.
The movie of Wicked is better than the stage production of Wicked which is better than the book of Wicked. Therefore I can only assume that the video game of Wicked would be even better than the movie.

That might’ve been the most disappointing Golden Globes I’ve ever seen. Does anyone agree with any of these choices? There’s maybe 3-4 I think are fair, the rest are insanely out of pocket picks

Am I alone in being a little let down by “Dune: Prophecy?” I just feel like it didn’t accomplish anything meaningful. A lot of questions, little to no answers, and no satisfying conclusions for a season of television. I’m worried about future Dune media that’s not in Denis’ hands.

One last movie for 2024, “The Substance” is a WILD movie. It’s gross, horrific, crazy and wildly entertaining. Demi Moore gives probably one of her best performances, and Margaret Qualley is a perfect companion to Moore. Cinematography and editing are creative, but be warned it’s a GROSS movie, 5/5

“Nosferatu” is a stunning visual masterpiece, overshadowing a slow simple narrative. Cinematography and costumes/sets are gorgeous and Skarsgård and Depp give Oscar worthy performances, but the story crawls to a rather simple ending. Worthy of a gothic holiday season, and beautiful to watch, 4/5

“War of the Rohirrim” was honestly an enjoyable time! Reviews were soft, but I thought it was beautiful to look at, and had an interesting story in a fascinating world. The second half drags compared to the first, and it’s slightly generic plot wise at times, but absolutely worth the watch, 4/5

“Sonic the Hedgehog 3” is not for me, obviously, but man did I not enjoy this. It was dumb, really dumb, and Ben Schwartz is so annoying as Sonic I wanted to pull my hair out. Way too much Jim Carrey, insanely nonsensical plot, and no substance for audiences of any age. Good luck parents, 1/5

“Joker: Folie à Deux” is a complete mess of a sequel. Disjointed, overstuffed, unfocused, and the musical numbers add NOTHING. The Gary Puddles scene is the ONE good part of this movie, but it’s brief; I genuinely couldn’t wait for it to end. What a fall from grace compared to the first movie, 1/5

“Twisters” just felt like such a soulless retread of a much better movie. It looks stunning, but I couldn’t care less for the cast or story. We lost a lovable group of storm chasers for a melodrama romance that doesn’t pay off. I could’ve gone without a sequel to this, 2/5

“Transformers One” was actually much more enjoyable than I was prepared for. A decent story with likable characters, believable motivations and strong foundations. By no means groundbreaking but one of the better Transformers movies. Wouldn’t mind more animated ones in this world, 4/5

“Dear Santa” is truly one of the worst, most mean spirited movies I think I’ve ever sat through. Everyone is so mean to the main child actor, the characters beyond unlikable, horribly unfunny and nothing resembling Christmas or family fun. Disheartening to see how far Jack Black has fallen, 1/5
