Welp. I called and emailed Gillebrand and Schumer all week long, re. the budget. "NO" on cloture," I wrote, said, (and to my shame, I'm too busy to have gone to an in-person advocacy). So. That's fucked for now. Bad, bad times forefend. This-all is pretty effing discouraging. (Hugs)? Yeah. Hugs. <3

Highly recommending Anand Giridharadas's THE INK, for those who don't already follow. It's so hard to be conversant, these wild and wooly days. I'm trying, along with the rest of us. Wind in your sails, Bsk peeps.

Gollydamn. I guess I blame patriarchy (?) Supporting/trying to reform/militating against/recuperating from manbabies just IS kinda an/the arc of history, I guess.

I'll keep trying. But dang, I wish a better, more incisive angle were possible. Something to stab with? Ugh. Persuasion was the dream.

As Rome burns, metaphorically, and as L.A. literally does,

today, I appreciated Mondale's son's reading of a eulogy for Carter. Leaders have had great heart and spirit. Many still do. I'll hope for and support them as I can.

The venal efftardery incoming, though? Cows grazing in the Forum.

In my milieu, folks are . . .pretty much numb. We all intelligently "did" a Christmas season, and in my case that means colleagues in academia, and Anglicans in formerly-less-fraught circumstances than now. Christmas was like putting a bookmark into something before Rome falls. Lovely. Numb.

You know, this reminds me that I’m old enough to remember when some people were saying that Joe Biden was so out of it somebody had to be running the government for him

Trying to discover how to be regarding the trump era. What to definitely fear, what to push back on fearing giving the trial balloon phase of a trumpocracy?

Tapping my fingers. Nervous. Spewing kindness as I can.

Giving two more zeros for AI 100% plagiarism today. So. It. Goes.

Grateful for such smart thoughts on Blue Sky. Thanks! I've followed many who are wise, and shall discern others!

That said? A boots-on-ground citizen such as I am, I really regrets the LACK of long-form helpful media. I mean, folks: this kinda stinks. However, a newbie, I'll try to smarten!

If you led any sort of justice-based campaign (that includes you, commentators) up to the election, or participated in any sort of justice-based campaign leading up to the election, I'm going to give you a gift that was given to me.

Welp. I came to Bluesky because . . .Meta and so forth. I get it (I hope).

I'm also a college professor, however. And, now, having just "graded" yet another AI-100% generated essay, with anOTHER zero, I do wonder, in this era, what we're ALSO going to do about our zombie-minded young students.
