LibreOffice
@libreoffice.bsky.social
Free, private and open source office suite – the successor to OpenOffice. But also a worldwide community! Backed by The Document Foundation (@tdforg.bsky.social).
Be careful, as OpenOffice has years-old, unfixed security problems: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_... – It's far safer to use one of the actively maintained and fixed successor projects, still free and open source (such as LibreOffice).

Please don't recommend insecure software! OpenOffice has years-old, unfixed security problems: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_... – All development moved years ago to LibreOffice, the actively maintained and fixed successor project (still free and open source).

More or less. OpenOffice's last major release was in 2014, and since then there have been some tiny updates, but now it has years-old, unfixed security problems and "red" security risk status: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_...

Hi! See here: www.libreoffice.org/get-help/fre... – And also note that we have limited resources, as a volunteer-driven community project, so we focus on the core office components at the moment.

Hi! You didn't say what operating system you're using, but we recently added automatic updates for Windows users, for instance.

Ah, that's a test page for a redesign, and not sure why it's coming up for you. When we search for "LibreOffice download" on DuckDuckGo we get the official current download page, at www.libreoffice.org/download/dow... – Use that to download the software!

Hi again! You don't need the latest OS (macOS 26). LibreOffice runs on macOS 10.15, which was released in 2019. On the Download page, choose the right version for your Mac – Intel or Apple Silicon. The latter is the default, but if you have an Intel Mac, you will need to choose the Intel version.

Hi! All seems fine here, and we've had no other reports (and we get thousands of downloads a day). Where are you based, and what version of LibreOffice do you want, on what operating system? We can try to send you a direct link...

Is there any reason you're still using OpenOffice? It has years-old and unfixed security problems, and no major release since 2014: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_... – Virtually all Linux distros moved to LibreOffice years ago, due to all the security problems in OpenOffice...

OpenOffice has several years-old, unfixed security problems, and is strongly not recommended for production use: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_... – But yes, LibreOffice exists as the actively maintained successor project.

We have zero plans to put AI in LibreOffice, of course. Our focus is privacy and letting you control your data. Some users want AI features and they can get them via optional extensions made by the community – but we won't put it in the app itself.
