On the train travelling back from a weekend away and I've just finished The Lost Passenger by Frances Quinn. It was the perfect book to take with me. I've thoroughly enjoyed all her novels, and this one was no exception. Great characters and a compelling story well told @franquinn.bsky.social

It has been my great pleasure to read March by Geraldine Brooks this week. A moving and enlightening read, clearly well researched and closely linked to one of the books that inspired me to become both a teacher and a writer. This story will stay in my thoughts for a long time.

Having given up flying for ecological reasons and discovered the considerable joys of slow travel across Europe by train, this article resonates with me. If they found a green way to fly, I wouldn't be tempted now. Train is a far more enriching experience. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
It turns out you’re never too old to go Interrailing around Europe | Phil Mongredien
Having missed out in my youth, I thought that was that – until I took a revelatory trip with my sons. We’re going again this year, says Guardian Opinion production editor Phil Mongredien

What a fantastic book The Other Side of the Bridge is. Mary Lawson is a truly wonderful writer. I've been intending to read her work for a few years and am so glad to be doing it now. I can't put it down but will be sad when it's done.

When we hit our target, we ring the bell.

We’ve just rung the bell for the shop, but not for the website.

Anyone wanna buy a book?

I have a smile on my face this morning thanks to the wonderful, hardworking people at @alcs.co.uk. That extra money helps to make my writing life a little bit more rewarding and I'm super grateful! Looks like it's buns for tea this Friday 🙂

Ghosted by Jen Ashworth has had me hooked for the last few days. There's so much raw emotion in it - loss, confusion, kindness, love, anger, and a constant glimmer of hope, in spite of everything. I'll miss Laurie but I'm grateful for the time we spent together.

I couldn't go to work this morning 'til I'd finished 'The Change' by Kirsten Miller. Fierce, frightening, occasionally funny, and completely fabulous.

Should I stop flying or should I stop eating meat? Answer = both (but you might be surprised at the figures): flightfree.co.uk/post/is-it-b...
Is it better to go vegan or stop flying?
It’s commonly quoted that animal agriculture produces more CO2 than aviation, therefore giving up meat would have more impact than giving up flying. We look at the numbers behind the claims.
