To the charming young man that complimented my choice of “The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire” on the Philadelphia train towards Trenton, NJ back in September- you made me feel like the world isn’t so awful.
My husband and I were exhausted that day and it really brightened our spirits.

Now having finished The Women by Kristin Hannah, I have reached my soft goal of 50 books for 2025! My hard goal of 30 was reached earlier this fall and I couldn’t be prouder.
Reading The Women had me sobbing off and on, for many reasons.
It earns a gold star for possibly my favorite non-fantasy BOTY

Officially hit 44 books and working on my 45th~ had my first genuine 1 star audiobook in a bit too and boy was it rough.

Sorry also for being gone for a while. My father passed away in September then I saw Sleep Token and had a weekend of volunteering at a local gaming expo. So it’s been a busy month.

Definitively not using Goodreads after they allowed the author to delete my review & blocked reviews on The Age of Scorpius AGAIN. So yes- this will be the last year I use it.
To follow my reviews, find me on Storygraphs. It’s so frustrating.

My mind is such a wasteland lately of stress. It feels like it’s killing me.
I’m back on my weight medication- week three is this week.
Causing me to maybe lose some weight is great- dealing with dehydration in this heat if I forget my water is horrid.
Hecate protect me 😭

I’ve missed you all!
Been dealing with a lot of family health scares and concerns.
My dad is overall not doing well.
I’ve been there for most of my family passing away- the time is coming.
I’m not doing well mentally either as a result.
I hope you’re having a great summer!

So tired lately. Went to the doctors today, I’ve gained a ton of weight and I just feel like I’m sinking into myself.
We’re under heat warnings yet getting “violations” by our park for not power washing the house.
It’s been raining nearly daily and when it isn’t it’s 90-100 degrees…
I’m so tired…

My my it’s been 10 days!
I’ve been very overwhelmed lately and after treating myself to two tattoos for Friday the 13th, it turns out we may have had a gas leak in our home.
Turned out thankfully no- just a dry tank issue with our spare shower.
But my cats were very stressed and so was I.

My switch 2 is in the mail but I can’t be happy because I’m STILL SICK after over NINE DAYS.

New job has been going great so far.
Still making mistakes but that’s ok! It’s really complicated work.
I hope this works out for me- I feel like I’m retaining a lot - still 5-7 weeks of training to go.
Funny how I ended up in finance when I never thought I’d like it / qualify.

I… just got access to TikTok live? Holy cow? Why tho? Anyways, unsure how to use this power?

My official final day as an intern- they bought pizza supposedly not due to me getting a new job but I get the feeling that’s why.
It was a truly kind gesture.
Finished Severance by Ling Ma. Initially gave 5 stars on GR because when you finish a book it immediately asks, might change to 4.
Solid.

Depending on how it impacts me, I might go right into another one same day!

Woooooah Severance by Ling Ma is wild with the context that it released BEFORE COVID… loving it so far- 10% through.
Also, Mapping the Interior ultimately got 3/5 for me.
Enjoyable in the moment but mostly forgettable over time.
Maybe a good book for a swap with a friend?
Hmm..

Also brought Severance by Ling Ma with me. I knew I’d rip through Mapping the Interior pretty quickly. Maybe I’m so thrown off by it rating wise because they insist on calling Native Americans “Indians” the whole time? This book was written in 2017, not 1945. I dunno, I’ll have to think it over.

Finished Mapping the Interior by Stephen Jones
It’s definitely a creepy tale, unsure exactly how to feel about it.
Being so short, 96 pages, it feels more like reading a Ghost Story than anything.
Glad it was a $5 cafe book though- wouldn’t have dropped $14 on it.
Not sure on a rating yet. 3/5?

I finished Sunrise on the Reaping over 20 minutes ago and outside of writing my review I’ve sat numb on my bed wanting nothing more than to curl into a ball and cry - but the tears refuse to come. I’m so angry over something done to a fictional child when worse are done to actual kids RIGHT now.
May 15, 2025 at 3:58 AM
I am now 40% into Sunrise on the Reaping and I’m having an unhealthy urge to reread the og trilogy rather than finish my May TBR. Ultimately it would put me +1 overall books if I do, but idk…
I have some room for Soul of a Witch still if I do, but Shōgun is so long 😭 maybe I need to be in the mood?
May 14, 2025 at 7:31 PM
Less than 10% in (I’m now a third in) and Sunrise on the Reaping is a 1000 times better book than Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes IMHO. It’s first person (which for this type of content I prefer) and I actually give a damn about the MC! The only thing I’m sad about is that it’s not high stakes if 1/2
