For context, this is an except from my Grandma Jean's family history of what her family had to grow and raise to feed themselves.
We had all the milk and butter we needed. We also had all the eggs we could use. We grew lots of potatoes and needed 75 bushels to start the winter. We tried to have about 50 bushels of apples, 20 gallons of sauerkraut carrots, cabbage and all the other vegetables we could use. Dad always planted a patch of sorghum and we had our own sorghum molasses to go with our corn bread.
