Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

This is EVERYTHING to every little girl who has only ever wanted to move to Prince Edward Island, drink cordial, and tightrope walk on the top of Moody Spurgeon’s barn.

If you’re up to reading one more, this is an excellent encapsulation of Bob Uecker! My guys growing up (Ralph Kiner and Tim McCarver) paled in comparison. Glad I got more time to listen to Uecker thanks to my Brewers fan spouse!
“Bob Uecker’s longevity and ebullient spirit earned him a sportscasting legacy alongside such icons as Vin Scully, and made him a legend to generations of fans in Milwaukee, the city of his birth.” — I eulogized Mr. Baseball here: www.vulture.com/article/bob-...
Just a Bit Outside
Baseball’s resident jester Bob Uecker became one of the sport’s most beloved figures—and an entertainment star along the way.

seriously when I saw that Luigi Mangione played assassins, I assumed that he had played Assassin, a game that was popular on college campuses back in the 1990s where you actually DID stalk and pretend to kill other players. Usually with a disc gun.

The deal seems to be that people can largely live like in pre-pandemic times as long as we accept getting miserably ill maybe twice a year (especially during family holidays), accept heightened risks of long-term health problems, and let old/vulnerable folks die. Doesn’t seem like a good deal to me.
