Very important not to conflate this issue with what happened in the Senate. Democrats had zero chance of scoring any win that Trump did not willingly concede. I know it sucks, but why are people having so much trouble accepting this immutable truth

I get it, but I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me what better outcome was in the offing knowing that Trump and the Republicans were absolutely not going to give in. Trump absolutely loves the cruelty, and he made it plain he had no intention of giving in.

I am a highly Progressive Democrat, but if the Senate Republicans absolutely refuse to negotiate on ACA tax credits, and Trump absolutely refuses to sign it into law, then that is that. Since we are unable to force them to give in, then how is accepting reality being weak or caving? Someone explain.

If Trump decided that he was never going to give in on the ACA tax credits no matter what, which he did, exactly what better outcome should they have held out for? When we shut it down we gave control of the issue back to Trump. We can't make him do anything.

Why are you all so sure that Trump is going to allow Johnson to bring the house back. I fully expect Trump to find some complaint with the new bill so he can reject it out of hand and keep the 218th signature off the discharge petition. ACA tax credits are Dem red line. Epstein is Trump's.

Fear not. 218 is still a majority even if they fill their empty seat.

Let's be 100% clear here. Trump is out of moves to make. Passing anything other than the CR up for consideration in the Senate right now will trigger the Epstein discharge petition, setting it loose in the backyard to do zoomies.

2/2 rationing the seven "ripening" days that must pass before the actual vote on releasing the Epstein files hits the house floor. If they carefully pack all the necessary housekeeping items into those seven work days it wouldn't surprise me if they were able to drag this out another 4-6 months.

Even if we pass the clean CR and open up the government today, funding will run out again in just 13 days and we will have to do this all over again. The 13-day CR is the only move the Republicans have that won't trigger the Epstein discharge petition. Once that happens, they will be down to 1/2

paid bye consumer purchases, and half in profits eaten by American importers who are afraid of angering trump by jacking prices up. Since the Tariff revenue is not enough to cover the budget shortfall for the year, any rebates will have to be paid for by tacking it on to the annual deficit.
