Worryingly, at the governor and industry’s urging, the General Assembly will also consider a slate of bills concerning AI (de)regulation.

CO passed AI*consumer protection laws in 2024, but industry is claiming they will be costly to implement. Naturally deregulation is the only solution 🤡

The General Assembly will also take action to mitigate, as best as it can, other devastation from OBBBA/HR 1: allowing certain state funds to be used to pay for SNAP, which HR 1 cut federal support for; figuring out how to keep marketplace health insurance affordable; closing corporate tax loopholes

Two main drivers here: Colorado uses Federal Taxable Income to calculate our income tax [and therefore revenues], and also because we have rolling conformity and immediately incorporate changes in federal tax law into our state tax code.
