Because they aren’t fully random, at all: I maintain a specific range of distance between inflection points, ensure that they land on different shafts such that successive diamonds do not look the same, and try to hit a pleasing rythme of larger / smaller lines

I bought a plaid off IKEA (not the cheapest because natural fibers but not exactly expensive either) and it has SHUTTLE SELVEDGES, WTF. That’s generally not a thing in mass-market textiles anymore. Meanwhile the warp edges are completely unfinished and I’ll need to zigzag them, what a bizarre combo

So turns out the fuckos running public health in France CHANGED THEIR SMOOTHING MODEL TWO WEEKS AGO and do not provide the raw data so now comparing graphs looks all weird. Fuck’s sake

I just wanted to read a neat exhibit catalog I got for free, not get hurt by the fucking table of contents

“Aurore will continue to visit on Tuesdays; she cannot now, in fairness to La Poste and the other V.S.M.P. subscribers, stop in casually on other days, as she might have before. On the other hand, with V.S.M.P., visits to Monique are guaranteed.”

Local textile history exhibit apparently failed to consult a handspinner when setting up an old spinning wheel for exhibiting. Looks like a double drive to me - there’s no braking mechanism in sight - so the band should do two circuits, one over the flyer and one over the bobbin

Meanwhile public health is still pondering the “Hm maybe mid-October might be a bit late for booster shots” orb

The visit yesterday featured a bunch of screen-printed workplace safety posters from a 1951 AINF campaign, my favorite is the middle one. Gets the point across REAL WELL even if you can’t read French.

He ended up with long-haired beauties again but THESE TWO climb on furniture and steal ham from his sandwiches. As a team, because they’re siblings and love each other. It’s very cute chaos and I hope to meet them when I’m in town next, if they’re not too spooked!

She was gorgeous and a lovely jerk and I miss her dearly, she was much closer to my then-partner than to me. She passed away extremely suddenly last autumn, the ex is still wrecked by the loss even though he also loves the two goofballs he adopted not long after

Okay I have a picture of Nadicat “helping” with the blankets photoshoot so that means I HAVE good photos of the goddamn things somewhere, but where, ‘cause it’s not in the “Product records” folder. Goddamnit.

Turns out all I needed to cheer myself up was a few hours in a brick building that used to make textile. This one has a chimney you can STEP THROUGH, which is super neat!

We’re all out of paper propaganda and I’ve got cheap paper from the discount store so let’s try for more tricks exploiting the human brain. This time, “color is fun”.
