'Aboriginal art is all just dots'

no... no it really isn't mate. I'm very lucky to work in a place surrounded by gorgeous art like this.

#ANZPMEF sure knows how to throw a masquerade gala dinner. What a incredible setting. My mask is very bling-y (thanks Spotlight!) and it's not even the most sparkly thing here 🤩

Updating the Sargent R2C2 (2017) feedback framework to 'R2CPC', Dr Andrew Huang puts in the 'P' of Perspective shift, adapted from Balint work (1957).

'Med school is a walk in the park if the park is on fire and you're being chased by wild dogs'. Michelle Leech, president of Medical Deans ANZ notes multiple factors causing 60% of medical students to be on Centrelink. The success of widening access, needs to be matched by SUPPORT. #MedEd #MedSky

A/Prof Leonnie Griffiths presents fab qualitative work about feedback in #MedEd and notes that we pay insufficient attention to the emotional and temporal content of feedback. 'Lack of insight' might very well be an appropriate, self-aware pause to allow sense-making. #ANZPMEF

Christopher Watling #ANZPMEF talks about the unease of supervisors doing both assessment and feedback; how high-frequency tools like EPAs can drive poor quality; and the need for lots of 'no-stakes time' to avoid CBME-based programs feeling like an extended job interview. #MedSky #MedEd

Dr Anvesh Chalasani, PGY2, describes initiatives such as Low Paging Hour to improve resident nutrition as a human factors QI intervention. Still much to be done however- residents self-rated their nutrition only 6.6/10 on non surgical and 5.4/10 on surgical terms.

Rory Trawber reports on co-locating med ed, workforce (HR) and strategy and service (research and QI) into a single Doctor Support Unit at Fiona Stanley Hospital Perth. A 'Never Say No' leave policy! Paid in-person attendance at Grand Rounds! Better doctor retention! 🎉

Prof Phillippa Poole compares graduation intention vs actual workforce, with surgery over- and GP under-subscribed. However, PhD of Antonia Verstappen, longitudinally tracking individual drs, busts the idea of a 'pipeline' and highlights pitfalls of selecting too early.

Opening keynote at #ANZPMEF25 by Prof Sheona Macleod paints a level of support in the NHS for neurodiverse doctors that is almost unimaginable in Australia. Neurodiversity *assessments* provided by the majority of trusts! (In Oz we all pay $$$ privately). #MedSky #MedEd

Mmmm, fresh-baked bread smell. I do a pretty good impression of 'trad wife'. 🤣

(Laucke multigrain mix + extra cup of buckwhear flour + 8g dried yeast, double-risen in the usual way then braided into a pull-apart loaf).

These are the only ones that work for us, and I'm not thrilled about the amount of packaging, but they work! My experiences with the dried ones were very similar to yours.

Utterly tragic- not helped by Nine news editors' dreadful double negative that implies blame. (To be clear- there is NO blame for train driver or parents at this time). 💔

I love that bubble tea toppings are now available online, because they're still scarce in Asian groceries. Cheaper to make our own bubble teas, and more convenient- and we can use fruit from our garden, and have the ice and sugar levels just how we like.

An older male surgeon, spotting my bag at a student career event, said 'Oh! do you want to be a surgeon?' and tried to tell me why it's a great choice. 🤣

That's not a response I ever got back in the 90s. We *are* making progress on gender equity. #ILookLikeASurgeon 🤗

Imagine being a successful singer, songwriter and actor like Danielle Spencer and not only being reduced by Nine news to 'Russell Crowe's ex-wife' but also your life-threatening splenic aneurysm surgery reduced to a mere 'health scare'. And we wonder why women feel dismissed. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Fascinating @racsurgeons.bsky.social Academy of Surgical Educators webinar on Prof Sarah Aitken's year as Harkness Fellow in the US, and the switch to euphemisms like 'mission alignment' 'holistic review' or 'valuing life journeys' instead of the D word (diversity) in trainee selection. #MedSky
