From Donegal Ireland. I mostly post random things - football, Donegal stuff and some bits of my own writing. #Peace #Respect #Kindness
In 2019 our club ran a programme for Syrian refugees where they learned English through football. I met one of those lads again today - he was cutting my hair and he now has great English. We had a great chat about football and getting him to come train with us soon.

Scribbled a few lines after seeing yesterday’s fabulous red sky. I saw plenty of better pictures of it than this one I snapped in my garden.

We’ve had no snow, but we did get a pretty dramatic sky this evening.

Happy New Year. May 2025 bring you only good things.

We're somewhere between Christmas and New Year and I dunno if that's the reason I scribbled this down a few years ago.

Watching Escape to Victory on Channel 5. 4-1 down at half time and Ossie Ardiles and his team mates are not going to run away and are prepared to go out and go all out attack for the second half. Ange ball is not a new invention, football is supposed to be entertaining.

Happy Christmas everyone.

I don’t even know what category of rural Donegal this fits into - the Masons running a Christmas lights tractor run!

Really looking forward to seeing this in the iconic Minack Theatre in Cornwall next summer. Super proud that my daughter Katie is directing the show and my other daughter Niamh designed the promotional artwork.

An afternoon of preparation for the party for the kids at the club. There will be some noise in this hall later on.

Huge appreciation for the crews out clearing up storm damage. Electric Ireland crew was working away in horrible conditions here, clearing away a tree that has fallen on power lines.

Ten years to the day since I took the floor with Sabrina in the strictly fundraiser for Deele College. Hard to believe it’s been a decade. A brilliant experience and mighty craic.

Was reminded of this as the results rolled in yesterday.

I always leave a few apples on the trees for the birds, I wrote this a while back after watching one feast on one of the last remaining that year.

If you are in Donegal and want a break from election drama, why not call in and see the Christmas trees on display in Raphoe Cathedral this weekend. Great work by local clubs and schools and community groups and businesses.

The problem with putting the ambient coffee shop from Youtube on in the background in the morning is that now I want cinnamon rolls for breakfast!

All go in Raphoe tonight ahead of the Christmas Tree festival that starts tomorrow. The creativity is off the charts, the trees are superb 👌

View from the window earlier, a frosty start in Donegal…

Nine years today this landed at my front door - a pallet of my own books. It marked in some ways the end of a journey for me and thankfully I sold enough to break even! Keep thinking next year, ten years on I’ll do a second - it would be better - but then I remember the pain of self-publishing!

One of the nicest Christmas events around - the Christmas Tree festival in Raphoe is nwxt weekend. All the community groups have trees and some of them are really creative.

Tears of winter

Then, the year cried its hardest.

Lashed out in anger.

Wept tears of winter
for all the days it had lost.

They were gone now.
Never to return.

In the darkness
it was hard to ever imagine
another spring.

To remember.

Death is not the end of love.

A November poem from a while back.

I’m in lovely Lincoln today, but I stayed away from pubs and watched the Ireland game on my phone in my daughter’s apartment.

A poem from earlier this year.

I became a President last week when our club named me as its first ever President. I’ve influenced the club to an ethos of respect and inclusion and promoted the game for girls and women. So, nothing like that other buck at all…
