The beach there makes a great place to hang around waiting for a ferry.

"I love England and I love living here, I just wished the people putting up the flags did it with that sentiment."

Some great, straightforward, reporting of genuine residents' views on "flagging" here in Wensum ward.

A pleasure to work with @thatstvofficial.bsky.social and residents as always

Well, turns out Reform had some difficulty with organising a pissup.
You'll never guess where it was to be held.

Another very uncomfortable looking collision at the junction of Nelson St and Dereham Rd.
I couldn't tell you what happened this time, but I can tell you that there are far too many collisions here.

I met with Norfolk's Police and Crime Commissioner Sarah Taylor to discuss what the police can do to tackle the antisocial parking in Norwich that is a blight on those who use the pavements.
The police have the required powers to act on obstructions, it is just a matter of whether of will.

It reminds me of those hazard perception tests. The hazards aren't generally in front of you, but emerging from the side.
Obviously if you aren't worried about hazards you can just look forward most of the time.

Some drivers had discovered that they could park for free on the green space to avoid the paid parking next door.
Once one 'got away with it' many others followed.

It's been a pleasure working with @greenjennyknight.bsky.social to get the illegally parked cars off one of our green spaces.
Officers worked over the weekend to persuade motorists to find legal parking to avoid their cars being removed. Bollards, benches and planting to follow.

I'm backing Zack because we need a leader who will clearly communicate our positive message to voters.

Trans rights are human rights.
Well done Norwich.

Different by-election, same pattern. When was the safe time for greens to start campaigning?
Next time should voters only go for labour or reform? Tactical voting doesn't makes sense any more.
And it never really did.

Before and after.
Unfortunately one missing bollard is enough for a green space to become a parking space.

If you look carefully there is a clue in the background as to what went wrong here

We need to admit that Norwich has a car problem and it's hurting the economy.

I'm just not convinced that this sign getting the job done.

Thank you to the wonderful people of Thorpe Hamlet and @thamletjosh.bsky.social who let me talk about parking regs and highway law at length last night.
There are clearly a lot of people who would like to see solutions to their local traffic problems and we are keen to help them.

It seems writing to me about walkable communities is too hot for our council email system to handle.
Which is fair.
Walkable communities are super sexy.

As part of the lingering culture wars around roads. Cllr Plant of Norfolk County Council decided to make this bus lane 7am-7pm rather than 24hr.
Drove that way last night. How many drivers taking advantage of the is new "freedom"?

Zero

Why is Norwich City Council so reliant on temp staff?
The council now spends around 20% of the wage budget via agencies, compared to around 6% at other nearby councils.
Total temp staff spend has gone from £1.5 million to £5.1 in 4 years.
Norwich Labour needs to get a grip
