Trump's (really Russia's) supposed Russia/Ukraine peace plan reminds me of this 2023 Pawel Kuczynski drawing.

Only a fool would brag about passing this ridiculously basic test. His self-adoration is an embarrassment to the USA, his schoolroom taunt that obviously *much* smarter people are “low IQ” is pathetic.

Trump is lying, as usual banking on his supporters — and much of the msm — not googling Reagan’s tariff speech or reading transcripts of it: www.rmoutlook.com/politics/wha... The relevant portion is exactly as shown in the ad Trump brazenly pretends is AI.

1970, 35K war protestors marched to DC. Metro police & 10K federal troops arrested 12,614! protestors, only 79 ultimately convicted.
55 years of turbocharging ways to silence dissent--sham investigations, Pravda-like "news," voter suppression etc--GOP still has to fall back on attacking & arresting.

Plus ça change... In 2013, 800K federal employees were furloughed as Ted Cruz led the charge to delay or defund Affordable Care Act. Every year, Ayn Rand fans try to/do shut down the government to take health care coverage away from millions.

Happy National Poetry Day!
Three of my favorites: "At the Poetry Reading" by John Brehm, "Introduction to Poetry" by Billy Collins, and untitled haiku by anonymous schoolchild.

In a speech offering House Judicial Comm. tape transcripts he edited himself, Nixon said, "I quote directly from the tape: 'It is wrong, that’s for sure.'" Context makes this funny.
But at least he tried to portray himself as ethical. With press/House/SCOTUS in his pocket, Trump doesn't even bother.

The "Hitler Oath," sworn in public, superseded a previous oath of allegiance to the Weimar Constitution & institutions.
Hegseth has summoned our military leaders. Does he mean to supersede their oath to "support & defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign & domestic"?

By chance, I was in Bergen, Norway during an outdoor festival somewhere near my hotel. For hours, sound of crowd singing along to live music drifted in through my hotel window. It was lovely. This has been my ear-worm ever since (volume up): "Don't go wasting your emotions, lay all your love on me"

I think of this when Trump/MAGA bark out a new warning du jour. It's the Haitians! The transgenders! Tren de Aragua! Jimmy Kimmel! "Shifty" and "Peek-a-boo" and Tylenol and Obama and...

I hope Jimmy Kimmel read Ken Kesey's Sometimes a Great Notion. Right now, "Never Give A Inch" is the way forward.

I also hope enough of us cancelled Disney/Hulu today to make the corporation feel us there in the room.
