This morning, the Bay of Fundy and I greeted eachother with a smile. A partial solar sunrise eclipse painted bold colours across the horizon, decorated with the silhouette of a ring-billed gull flying over head.

Illuminated by the glow of car headlights, this Snowy Owl perched along a rural roadside is a reminder of our shared responsibility for wildlife of the far North. Unfortunately, roads and vehicle collisions remain one of the leading causes of death for these Arctic wanderers.

I hope that we can create a society where people are able to spend more time grounded in natural places where they are able to engage with and ponder things like old trees and wild owls.

Bewildering blue water and a familiar Arctic friend. With a special desalinization gland on its beak, the Northern Fulmar can drink salt water to meet hydration needs, making it well suited for life at sea. Croker Bay, Tallurutiup Imanga. For Students on Ice.

The common loon - a sentinel of our watersheds.

Sensitive to environmental contamination, their presence on oceans in the winter and on lakes in the summer can be a reflection of healthy ecosystems.
