The patient with the policy from Company A will be billed more than the patient with the policy from company B, even though they were seen for the same procedure and have otherwise equivalent health plans.

Healthcare as a business is so strange…

For example: 2 patients have a plan with all the exact same parameters, the only difference is the insurance company they are insured by. Let’s say they both have a high, unmet deductible and go to the same provider for the same procedure. But Company A has a higher negotiated rate with the provider

Providers like payers that pay higher which makes it easy for patients with this plan to find a doctor. But if they have any sort of financial responsibility they end up with higher OOP costs than someone with a “less desirable” insurance company.

I notice something similar in employer funded health insurance. One of the paradoxes of having a “good” commercial healthplan is that it often comes with higher negotiated rates.

Tough… this is bad for healthcare providers (because they’re getting paid less) and bad for patients (because providers will need to continue to limit or restrict the number of medicare patients they see). The promise of Value Based Care Revenue opportunities seems to be fading too.

Wow, if I was that bishop I’d just be happy someone was doing it and doing it so well. Doesn’t seem like there would be much time to worry about it too much. Just let the person assigned to it figure it out if they are dedicated to it like you obviously are. Good job being so involved!

This probably isn’t the reason for the decline, but BYU’s application isn’t necessarily “frictionless”.

I was thinking about applying to BYU in High School (although I was already serious about going to a different school). But then I got to the essays, and the interviews, etc. and said “nah, I don’t really want to go there.”

If patients all followed these medical providers and patients would both be so much happier with their visits.

Someone brought my wife and I a simple but amazing roasted butternut squash pasta that I still dream about sometimes.

As a marathon runner… it’s probably best to not disclose the fact you run in case the hiring manager is a runner. Runners know that people obsessed with running tend to prioritize it over things like work. 🤫🤐

I see haha, the change is nice. Stick season is kind of trendy right now though.
