Galway, formerly Moscow. Commute by bike, but drive more than I cycle. Active travel, politics, scouting, community involvement, occasional forays into FOI. Gigs, lots of gigs.
So John McGurk is admitting to being so colossally disorganised he can only conceive of bringing bottles back individually as soon as he finishes them. A separate journey for each bottle. Putting them aside and bringing them to the supermarket next time he shops is beyond his meagre abilities?

A tube of super glue is compact enough to keep in any pocket...

I had it's predecessor, the N97, which was woefully bad. I guess it's good to hear the replacement was better but I'd been turned off Nokia completely by the N97 debacle so was not minded to give it a try.

I've been doing a 30km round trip commute on mine since the autumn and really loving it. Do buy from an Irish dealer who will take care of after sales though. it's not worth buying from one of the big German discounters just to save a few hundred up front.

If you're considering the Cube, and you can avail of the Bike To Work scheme, have a look at the Cube Longtail. It's rated as a cargo bike so you get double the tax benefit, which can make it cheaper than the Kathmandu. It has greater range and carrying capacity while still riding like regular bike.

I pass through this junction twice a day and I've seen it multiple times. Most memorably when a truck driver and car driver both launched their vehicles at people starting to cross on a green pedestrian light.

The approach by AGS seems to be inconsistent from place to place. I've heard about Gardai elsewhere being restrictive but in Galway they have been happy to accept footage on a USB stick when I've offered it.

I must not post enough on Facebook. Two attempts produced results referring to people with slightly similar names, but not to me.

The law should be changed so that failure to remain at the scene attracts penalties at least as severe as driving while impaired. As it currently stands the incentive to leave someone dying at the side of the road, and later attribute it to 'a moment of if panic', is all too obvious.

When a 14YO decides to get up early and make pancakes for the whole family for breakfast that's pretty cool too. 😜

And fines as a percentage of income, as in Finland, rather than a flat amount.

And which had the speed limit on the N6 arm increased to 60 km/h by @galwaycitycouncil.bsky.social eighteen months ago, further increasing the danger for those trying to cross.

You're making me nostalgic now too. Mine was dark green and was one of the first Ladas with an airbag. Thankfully I never got to test whether it would actually trigger properly.
