Despite the click-bait headline my contribution has been accurately reported in this piece by @eithnedodd.bsky.social unfortunately on the industry side the wool has been pulled over her eyes by the usual self-serving rhetoric

By way of followup a short 🧵

Stolen from boards.ie. Funny because it's so true (and not just elderly neighbours).

Strange arithmetic on @news.rte.ie. By my count this is 82% for @catherinegalway.bsky.social in Renmore rather than 11%. www.rte.ie/news/post/10...

Last Night in Galway's Westend was absolutely magic as a choir of kayakers floated on the Eglinton Canal, accompanied by live music and choreographed canoeing ✨ 🌊

'Voices on the Water' is part of Westend Theatre & Arts Festival and was dreamt up by the brilliant Tracy Bruen and Galway Kayak Club!

Gobsmacked to read that the Irish Road Haulage Association thinks that it's normal to drive at 120 km/h in heavy fog on a motorway with your family in the car.

Normalising illegal driving behaviour, as part of what is supposed to be a safety campaign, is not a good look.
The Irish Road Haulage Association (IRHA) has called for a ban on tractors and "slow moving vehicles" from using the country's motorway network due to safety concerns

Is this really such a bad thing? Presumably only people who knew they were parked illegally are paying these 'fines'. Fines are supposed to be a deterrent rather than a revenue source. If the council can't deter illegal parking maybe it's good to outsource it? www.thejournal.ie/dublin-parki...

gardaí have said that they are investigating the scam, which they say targeted “many cars” in Dún Laoghaire.

I'd normally be posting a picture tagged #ibikeivote today but our 2 eldest are first time GE voters so I drove them to the polling station instead. They'd both put in a lot of thought ahead of time and asked insightful questions on the journey. Gratifying to see young people valuing their vote.

Living just inside the Galway city boundary. Spent 2.5 hours driving today to collect one kid from city centre school, drop her home, bring another kid to work, and drive home. 20km in 2.5 hours = 8km/h. If there was decent public transport for teenagers to move around independently how many (1/2)

Once again Horseracing got a higher budget allocation than the entire National Parks and Wildlife Service for the whole country.
