Really wish the game industry would realize what the term "cult classic" means. Not a single fucking person would be excited if Tommy Wiseau announced The Room 2 by this point because there's not a snowflake's chance in hell it would be made with any sincerity or earnestness

I fucking LOVE that it's going to be set in Japan but man they've been getting exponentially shitty with the monetization. 4 was honestly worse than 5 in the ways it railroaded people into a specific gameplay loop, but 5 outright paywalled previous QoL features.

Still like... a 4 out of 10. I have to watch them in theaters every time though because god forbid I ever waste my time watching one of these without all of the best parts on display, aka something only a theater experience can give.

I will say I had more fun with this one than I did the 2nd movie. In fact, it's very VERY obvious these 2 movies were filmed back-to-back because of how much is reused. But the 3rd movie did it all more competently I guess.

Also the way in which it was done. Every non-Lawless Frontier mission had SEVERAL "references" that were really just exactly aping scenes or moments from the movies or straight up copying art assets. None of it was satisfying or felt earned or clever tbh.

I did have just as hard a time with all the SW references as I knew I would the second Renegades was revealed. In a universe where Disney didn't absolutely torpedo the entire brand this might've been fun but holy shit we do not exist in a vacuum and it was very obnoxious and just felt out of touch.
