The last leaves of autumn glow even brighter to a hungry pair of Therizinosaurus, bulking up for a long winter. These strange dinosaurs are some of my favorites, and though they're slow movers, they made it just in time to be included in my new calendar!

Happy Halloween! Here's just a taste of my favorite vampires, from stage, page and screen.
. Bosco as Blood Countess Bathory
.The Vampire Lestat in his early Parisian era.
. Original Flavor Count Orlok
Which of your favorite vamps would you like to see me illustrate?

Turns out both Jim Henson and Frank Oz are very much my type.

If you doubt that dinosaurs still walk the earth, look no further than the Shoebill Stork. This piece evolved through a few iterations before landing on this final version, but I think it was worth the effort. Prints available in my shop!

Sailors of the future take heed: strange new creatures hunt the radioactive waters of the post-fallout oceans. Filtering pollutants like plankton, the Detritus Devil will attack and destroy passing vessels, smashing them down to edible scraps to consume at their leisure.

Strange sightings are a feature of the PNW, and the long history of mysterious incidents was my inspiration for this year's design for the NWFF's Local Sightings Film Festival!

I've been working on this Mosasaur linocut for many months, and I think I've taken this specimen as far as it can go. This process is a good exercise in learning how to step back and let a project breathe between rounds. Linocut is definitely not a medium that rewards rushing.

This monitor lizard has been lurking in my sketchbook for quite some time, and I recently decided to give her the attention she deserves.

I plan to explore this topic further, but for now, this school of ancient sea creatures is available as a mini-print in my shop.

I painted this pod of Mesozoic sea reptiles for a book proposal that didn't go anywhere, but I loved the artwork. The similarities between Ichthyosaurs and whales are a prime example of convergent evolution, where different species develop similar traits despite very different origins.

As a dog dad myself, I find great satisfaction in creating portraits like this. I currently have a few commission spots available, if you're interested in getting a portrait like this for your companion creature.

A heartfelt tribute to Darwin, a noble dog and cherished companion of a good client. Losing a pet brings a unique flavor of grief, and being able to memorialize them in this way is deeply cathartic for me, as I believe it is for their owners as well.

I've been busy creating a variety of dinosaur family portraits as commissioned pieces, and it's been exciting to render these creatures in a more lively and authentic environment.

If you're considering adding a similar painting to your collection, I currently have couple of commission slots open.

In honor of Mother's Day this weekend, I'm featuring this tough matriarch from the cretaceous. This Pachyrhinosaurus painting was recently completed for a delightful client.

It's #KidLitArtPostcard Day!
I've been painting a lot of dinosaur families for commissions recently and this seemed like a good fit for May's card.
I'm still on the hunt for my next book project.

My new book is out today! “Are you a friend of Dorothy?” written by Kyle Lukoff, published by Simon and Schuster. This book is about the ways queer people in history have used secret codes and slang to find each other in dark times.

Some of the details are worth a closer look. I'm currently open for commissions if you're looking for a unique gift of piece to add to your collection.

This recent commission seems like a good one to share on Easter. The client requested a Flamingo-colored Tyrannosaur guarding its young offspring in a moment of playfulness. While not the most scientific rendering, I enjoyed playing with the bright pink hue for this most formidable of parents. S
