SkyWing eggs are kept deep in caves, given soft nests of grass and leaves, and decorated with feathers. Feathers are used in hopes that the dragonet inside will take flight the moment they hatch. They also act as something for newly-hatched dragonets to play with.

I’ll say in the defense of series 3 in WOF - the worldbuilding is phenomenal. Pantala is SO wildly different from Pyrrhia in culture that it’s so much fun. Hivewings have playgrounds! Universities! Track schools! These are all things that are never mentioned in Pyrrhia and that’s fun.
