The money has to come from somewhere. Unless you're advocating that they just print more, and i shouldn't have to explain why that's a bad idea. It doesn't matter how they frame it or what account it came out of, you can't invent money to give people out of thin air. A policy is not dollars.

Implementing UBI *on top* of existing welfare programs, without reducing spending to those programs, is literally just giving away more money during a global austerity crisis. What they could do to offset inflation is raise wages and cap prices/rent. But they won't, because that would cut profits.

The money has to come from somewhere. Every state agency in every country is subjected to austerity. Offsetting the costs by any means you can think of could equally be applied to any other welfare program. UBI is welfare just like child and disability benefits, only distributed in a different way.

All welfare programs can be cut during periods of austerity. Whether the state is spending money on healthcare, child allowance, or UBI, when the money runs out it gets cut. UBI would be an excuse for the state to cut other spending, and may be less equitable than our current welfare programs.

Identity politics is a tool used by capitalism's defenders to divide the working class and distract from the *real* separation between the bourgeoisie and the working class. The idea that workers of any identity benefit from the oppression of other workers is untrue and destructive to solidarity.
