Chronologically: daughter, sister, friend, wifey, stepmum, mum, nana. Love good food, wine, gin & scotch. Bleeding heart lefty who knits madly to relieve anxiety. North Shore Auckland contact for Beanies for Babies.
Great little basic cardi in 4 ply.
Old Patons book #205, design #1
Got the whole cardigan (3month size but with 6month length) out of one 100gm ball of Gallipoli.

Lisafdesign’s Frankie cardi and hat, but done without the bobbles on bottom strip as not a fan. Maybe next time I’ll add a texture to the plain part.
I do love this pattern - it’s so nice to knit and the sleeves ease in just perfectly.

Can’t believe how far a couple of ziplock bags of part balls have gone. Another batch of the Nate Baby Vests (pattern by Nana Anna) bringing it to 9 in all. It’s super satisfying to use up bits and bins.

Knits finished over the break #4
Pattern: Kiwi Stitch & Knit Co Maddison for the jacket and their Jessie beanie pattern.
Yarn: Skeinz Highlander Heathers 5 ply on Stornaway colour.

Knits finished over the break #3

Pattern: Naturally K440
Yarn: Skeinz Vintage for the grey and Cleckheaton Country for the red (I think!)

Made the stripes slightly narrower than in pattern as using up a part ball of red and was concerned I’d run out.

Knits finished over the break #2
Pattern: from Debbie Bliss Quick Baby Knits book. (Pattern is in stripes which are lovely and which I’ve done before, but did it plain this time.)
Yarn: Skeinz Highlander Heathers 5 ply in Stornaway colour.

Love the square neck.

Sewn up yesterday after a dash to local ‘emporium’ to top up the button stash.
Kiwi Stitch and Knit Co - Ashley Cardigan, which I think is quite a new pattern. Also has a hoodie version on the pattern. Very quick and easy knit but looks great.
Yarn is Nako Calico Cotton/ Acrylic Blend 8 Ply

Donnybrook 957. Started Dec22 & put aside as I was too chicken to try magic loop for the sleeves. Gave myself a New Year’s pep talk to try new things and voila! Felt like I was fighting the cable (60cm) a lot but cuff (80cm) was fine. Counterintuitive but a longer cable seems to make it easier.

Beige - Peter Pan P1325 - a gorgeous one to knit up.
Navy - Sirdar West Yorkshire 5242. Love Sirdar patterns - easy to follow and reliable.
Nano Calico yarn - a cotton/acrylic mix like this is nice when it's humid but I do notice that my fingers get a bit sore when there's no 'give' in the yarn.

I’ve been having fun knitting for a charity group, using lots of lovely colours.

The last of my pile now sewn up.
Purple - Lisafdesign Poppy cardigan and beanie in Windsor 8 ply.
Maroon - UKHKA pattern 235 cardigan in Skeinz Vintage Abroad.
Time to rest the knitting needles for a wee while now and make our grandson a Christmas stocking and start on a quilt for him.

On a roll sewing up! Millie cardi from Kiwi Stitch & Knit with beanie from their Ava/Archie pattern. Skeinz Vintage Abroad for the teal and their limited edition multi 100% wool. Such a sweet pattern that looks good in every colour I’ve knitted it in (which is quite a few now).

Just off the needles and ready for giftee, who requested lavender colour. Kiwi Stitch & Knit Lilly cardi and beanie from their Ava/ Archie pattern. Windsor 8 ply which I haven’t used before. Pleasantly surprised by how this reasonably priced yarn knitted up.

Just blocked & added to my pile for Beanies for Babies. Sirdar West Yorkshire 5387 for the cardi & the beanie from Lisafdesign Kennedy pattern. Vintage Abroad yarn from Skeinz which is so nice to knit with. I love Sirdar WY & Lisafdesign patterns - easy to read, no second guessing.

I’m able to knit and Netflix at the same time so get both my fixes!
I knitted as a teenager too - my nickname was ‘granny’!
I like trying lots of different patterns but do use a free kids pattern from online called Gingersnap (example attached) as a go to easy knit and to use up bits of yarn.

During 2020 lockdowns I rediscovered knitting.
It helped with anxiety.
I thought ‘I’ll knit for those that need warm things for bubbas.’
2021 - I thought I might get to 100 cardi/beanie sets one day. That day is today.
104.
Still calms anxiety so can’t see me stopping in the next (Luxo) years.

Search drinks in your camera roll. Came up with just the one - took a photo of this at a friend’s birthday do almost 2 years ago because it was stunning and I meant to get some for the drinkies cabinet. But never did. Maybe this will prompt me …

Good exercise for me. Honestly a bit surprised at how much bigger the Greens segment is vs the Labour one. I thought they’d be pretty level. The benefits of doing the policy responses with the blind function on.

I had put this series in the too hard basket for years for some reason. Just watched the Neon TV series, thought that might segue nicely into reading the books … and discovered not a hard read at all. (And wow, the Auckland library request system is a cracker!)

It’s a proud Kiwi’s patriotic duty to try each new Whittaker’s flavour, right? Raspberry ok. Orange really good - I mean maybe not Terry’s Chocolate Orange good but pretty close, I think.
