some things that I don't think they did as well:
- music (the use of canon in d dur, and joy to the world were moving and memorable, nothing in these movies has been as much so)
- visual element changes (e.g. unit 01's arm being glowy instead of weirdly normal and human)

I'm very late to this, but I am finally watching the rebuild of #evangelion, just finished the 3rd movie

another busy week, another slight improvement
did manage to get my fourth set piece though (gloves) :D
have a new machine now, so next project is to see is whisky/wine can be made to work happily on arm... pray for me

only a modest improvement this week due to being more busy irl, played eight +11's with an eye towards replacing an item with sometihng hero upgrade track (as it happened, the belt)
