The "NOT WHAT I'M CALLED" meme, featuring the alleged death mask of Agamemnon, being ID'd by Heinrich Schliemann. Some scholars believe it was modified or even wholly fabricated by Schliemann, but there is no evidence to suggest it belonged to Agamemnon. The so-called Bust of Josephus, a Roman-Jewish historian, based solely on stereotypes about the large "Jewish nose." Current scholarship definitively rejects this identification. The Meroë Head, initially identified as Emperor Augustus' great-nephew Germanicus, but now believed to depict Augustus himself.

American south-west usually means "the desert-y bits" (i.e. Arizona, New Mexico, and west Texas) so it *could* include the southern tip of Nevada, but in general I'd say its a western state like Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah.
I'm from the east coast though, so someone from out west may feel otherwise.

Tonight's aesthetic is DS9 being the gayest thing on television in the past 30+ years.
That whole station was one big, Queer polycule and we wouldn't have it any other way.
Bashir and Garak make eyes at each other in the latter's first ever scene in Deep Space Nine. The homoerotic tension between the two characters eventually became so great that executives told them to tone it down. Alexander Siddig and Andrew Robinson said no and turned it up to eleven instead. (S1E03 "Past Prologue") Jadzia Dax and Lenara Kahn on the verge of rekindling the relationship from their symbionts' past lives (S4E06 "Rejoined") Chief O'Brien and Dr. Bashir getting ruinously drunk together, leading to O'Brien telling Bashir "You're not an 'in-between' kinda guy. People either love you or hate you. I mean, I *hated* you when we first met, but now... well, now I don't." Judith Beheading Holofernes (c. 1598–1599) by Caravaggio The strong use of light and shadow and vivid reds create a powerful visual presence, but Judith holds the sword in a weak position and wears a somewhat uncertain expression. Her maidservant stands idly by, watching, and a thick band of shadow down the center divides the painting into two halves, visually separating the subject from her own action, as though symbolically robbing her of agency. Judith Beheading Holofernes (c. 1620) by Artemisia Gentileschi The use of light, shadow, and colour is all here and in fine form, but the action is on another level. Judith and her maidservant are now physically wrestling Holofernes, pinning him down to the bed as Judith plunges her sword through his neck with the full force of her body behind it. She now wears a look of grim determination. There is no separation between subject and action; it is all one, singular if chaotic scene of flesh and blood in a violent clash.
