I love the Mystara gazzeteers as reading material. But they are a bit too much to handle for the average game. I think something shorter that sketches a specific region where players can start adventuring and on which the DM can build as they see fit is more manageable - I'd say 30-40 pages maximum

This is quite cool to read as I am also running the module in parallel. My group made quite different choices, esp. re the Ingrid-Warwick liaison which resulted in a new couple in Brandonsford :D

I think it's actually a good gazetteer. As far as I know authors worked against very tight deadlines and were paid based on the word count, which led them to 'overdo' the writing a bit
