also agreed, but I am gonna engage in some BS writer mind-reading and say, I think they wrote Bran as the choice essentially just for shock value, maybe also as recompense to some people for all of Bran's losses - "hey, his life ain't so bad, he got to be recognized as king! ignore the sociopathy!"

okay, yes, I 100% agree, but the presentation clearly indicates that the writers didn't intend for this interpretation.
embarrassing as it is, I am sure their thought process was that this counted as a meaningful, believable democratizing move, indicative of future democratization.

i agree that's the far greater tendency, but the post you're replying to was made in light of the replies to the quote-tweeted thread, and the latter is not participating in the tendency you're describing.

also linking a reply I made to this same post just to add to your point
getting upset and voicing that upset in cruel ways are also very different things.

It's one thing to feel a certain way about others being positive regarding the U.S., but quite another to engage in harassing marginalized people over it.

Why would they?

It's been demonstrated over and over again that all the Trump administration effectively cares about is announcements on their propaganda networks. Whether the thing is actually going to happen is details, and they are not good at details. China figured that out very quickly.

... The UK feels like a nation whose ruling elite are absolutely committed to their own decline and utterly in love with their own perpetual mismanagement. Or, at least, so proud, so unwilling to admit general mistakes, that they will de facto achieve those goals rather than every saying sorry.

idk much about LLM safety work but I figure one of the most important things to be done in staying ahead of jailbreakers would be to improve detection of certain key words being sent by the LLM in any message in any context and tracking those instances for future reference for safety work

maybe but I figure, as with cybersecurity or any other kind of security nowadays, LLM defense measures just need to stay ahead of malicious actors. not sure if there is something unique to LLM's that makes that unviable/implausible though.
