I let circumstances decide for me… oh ok I guess I no longer need to fix that thing that now needs to be replaced. ✅

I am sorry friends but I will die on this hill. (I am 38 and happily middle aged). American life expectancy is around 78. If you break that into 3 equal chunks being young, middle aged, and old, 33 is well into the middle chunk.

To be fair some stores make it logistically difficult (or prohibitively expensive) to bundle the two. An email with the author with the book or receipt will often net you the current pdf version. And if I buy a physical book, I have likely seen the pdf already as part of my purchase decision.

I play TTRPGs for the balance. I love rules and I love bending them occasionally even more. Just story improv I agree. Just rules, board games. TTRPGs are the social sweet spot in between.

I’ve never regretted a TTRPG purchase. Even games that I never ran or that disappointed me in some way, have always far exceeded their value and taught me plenty as a GM and player.

Quick question. As a cis and terminally het dude. How freely should it be mentioning this to my friends in meatspace. I want bring visibility to this but have been out of a city and thus the loop a long time.

Any skill you need to GM or design a game can be learned by working at a good summer camp as an instructor and/or program coordinator

You also sound deranged trying to describe it to people and thinking it will be just as good when you do so…

There is also so many new places you might go when you aren’t relying on the same creative pathways, cognitive shortcuts, and familiar habits in your brain!!

Yeah they lost that fight already. Glass as a drinking vessel is super malleable and seems to follow no reasonable logic. If you wanna call it a glass Or ever put wine in it. It’s a glass seems to be the rule…

You do not think threatening physical violence is the correct way to deal with inconsequential differences of opinion?

Evolution is wild and is just an example that if you make enough wrong turns but keep going you WILL get there. Even if you have no sense of direction and never knew where “there” would be.

The whole upright spine thing is such a fail… but it keeps one end away from the other. Which is nice.
