Yep. 'Παντρεύομαι' comes from υπανδρεύομαι, which essentially means coming under the control/ protection of a man. But again very few Greeks would realise this and today's meaning is far away from it.

Indeed! And very few Greeks would make the (linguistic) connection between the two so you need to be careful on how you use it :-)

Academia was very different at the time in terms of how it treated maternity. I am glad we are more flexible and supportive now than we were then.

There is this global.oup.com/academic/pro... but not cheap and form Renaissance onwards. And there is this one (cheaper but a heavy volume) www.hup.harvard.edu/books/978067... which I use a lot; not only mythology though but includes all myths/heroes etc
