Just a Covid-era mom seeing her worst pandemic predictions coming true. I tweet about Ann Arbor, public schools and the dangers of replacing caring human teachers with zoom and for-profit tech companies. Opinions are my own. #a2schoolboard #a2schools
Skyline high school finals are Monday and Tuesday. Ask me how happy the students studying at @aadl.org Westgate branch are about today’s family drum circle. 😂

I’m rather proud of the Pumpkin I carved for the kids this year. Go Skyline Eagles 🦅

If you are trying to decide if it is worth coming out and voting on Tuesday as only the tech education milage that helps #a2schools is in the ballot, here is who is voting against it. #a2council #a2schoolboard

The downside of increasing taxes is it could impact luxury home building and sales, but is that a big concern in places that draw the rich for the beauty of location, not by a cheap price. Michigan is like R.I. and Montana in this way, and we have a housing shortage in many places in the state.

#a2schools superintendent message on ICE picking up people dropping off their kids at school.

Sorry for the delay. Labor Day weekend fun. 🙂
This is inaccurate. The most recent presentation at the June 11 #a2schoolboard meeting had the state and federal contribution being roughly equal. I don't know why such a big change in the amended budget.

Log on for the Taylor Swift announcement. Stay for #a2schoolboard. 😆

😮OMG! Taylor Swift has set a countdown for #a2schoolboard meeting tonight. Watch on CTN or Zoom at 7 pm ET.
What else could it mean? 😆

The MacBooks are insured for theft and have the Apple Care warranty, but you have to agree to be responsible for other damages in order to register in AAPS. Here is what you agree to:

Today's distribution of MacBooks to #a2schools high schoolers was a little rough with kids at one school waiting in line over 2 hours. Parents asked how much it all cost. Answer: over $6 1/4 million. All $ from local bond.

28.82% voter turnout is pretty good for a very local library election. It beats the county wide election participation rate … and most primary elections.
August 6, 2025 at 4:35 AM
A and B win, or are more absentee votes coming?
#a2council
August 6, 2025 at 4:21 AM
Are these all the absentee votes or are more coming?
August 6, 2025 at 4:18 AM
😲 Am I reading this right? Are the people who want to keep the downtown parking lot a parking lot “in perpetuity” hoping Trump will crash the economy so developers will stop developing new housing?
August 6, 2025 at 2:57 AM
Despite what some may say, low turnout elections favor those with extreme views. Don’t assume a new downtown library is a no brainer and you don’t need to show up to vote yes on A and B in #annarbor. There is still 3 more hours to get your vote in!
August 5, 2025 at 8:23 PM
Let’s go #annarbor. Vote for a new downtown @aadl.org library. People over parking lots!

Reminds me of the USSR organizational structure where they created the impression of openness and democracy but actually minimized the groups that could challenge the supreme soviet by diluting those groups with a host of other groups who had either the same or more seats at the table.

... than districts anticipated, then they will have to make cuts in their budget, and that means cutting people and programs as the state funding goes ~90% to paying salaries and benefits. Districts with a healthy fund balance already are in better shape to weather this than districts that don't. 👇😬

Ask AAPS if these might come up for sale? They are not really maintained the way they should be (as the Abbot pic shows) and might be old enough that the money from a sale would go back into the general fund and not a facility bond fund.

A spot of good news. :)

But they had ballon animals and German dancing! Look how excited these teens are on their website.
June 30, 2025 at 2:16 AM
This is helpful. I asked my teen who go downtown way more than an old person like me and she likes the second option. So I’m voting yes on A and B. Thanks Library Green Conservancy.

😂 And now I got to today’s issue, which follows up on the Bezos cover. The juxtaposition is hilarious. WSJ, are you switching sides?

If you don’t like Bernie, AOC and Mamdani getting more popular, maybe be a little discreet and don’t do shit like this. Idiots both of them.
