Love the audiobook versions of SGJ books!

Very grateful for the horror writers who kept me in stories this year, libraries that kept me in free books, and people online who make such great recommendations 🖤👻🎃📚 here’s hoping 2026 is even better!

Don’t Fear the Reaper (SGJ): Jade JD Daniels and Letha Mondragon are my final girls. This quickly became a comfort read. Like yes it can be gory and gross and tense as hell but god I can’t stop revisiting it.

Come Closer (Gran): this is one of those books that’s hyped by everyone and deserves every ounce of praise. Not a single moment or word is wasted. Tense, eerie, engrossing.
December 28, 2025 at 11:14 PM
The Haar (Sodergren): a romantic monster story that felt modern and classic. It’s now my mission to go through all of Sodergren’s bibliography and each read has been fantastic. But as my first, this will always be my fav

Mayra (Gonzalez): the only disappointing thing about this is that it’s the author’s only book. A gothic horror with its heart in female friendship. Florida is terrifying and beautiful, can’t believe more books aren’t set there.
December 28, 2025 at 11:10 PM
Jackal (Adams): another sub-genre I don’t normally reach for that was so damn good it made me want to branch out more. A tense thriller with a touch of fantastical and a FMC I’d follow through any creepy woods
December 28, 2025 at 11:09 PM
The Bewitching (Moreno-Garcia): more eerie and mysterious than horrifying. A book to read again and again. One of my favorite authors for a reason.
December 28, 2025 at 11:03 PM
The Unworthy (Bazterrica): engrossing. I don’t know if I can ever read it again but god it was so good. Bazterrica is one of the greats.
December 28, 2025 at 11:01 PM
Dead Eleven (Juliano): the way some movies are best watched on an airplane, this book would be amazing to read during a flight. Retro, fun, mysterious, creepy.
December 28, 2025 at 11:00 PM
Lucky Day (Tingle): one of the best author events I’ve ever been to. Such a fun and heartfelt book written by a fun and heartfelt human.
December 28, 2025 at 10:57 PM
House of Hunger (Henderson): smutty lesbian vampire historical speculative fantasy fiction. Say that 10x fast. This was one of my most enjoyable reads of the year and I haven’t found anyone I wouldn’t recommend this to.
December 28, 2025 at 10:56 PM
House of Beth (Cullen): one of the few depictions of OCD that felt honest and horrifying. A Good-For-Her book and an unexpected story of a haunting.
December 28, 2025 at 10:53 PM
The Posession of Alba Diaz (Cañas): equally romantic and horrifying. I avoid historical fiction and this book completely changed my tune— will be diving more into this genre next year and will read anything by this author.
December 28, 2025 at 10:52 PM
Withered Hill (Barnett): the world was so richly drawn that I didn’t even see what was happening. What I thought would be hopeful became much more sinister. Cannot wait to read his other books.
December 28, 2025 at 10:51 PM
We Love You, Bunny (Awad): how often do you fall in love with the sequel to a book you didn’t enjoy? I cried, I devoured, I cringed, I despaired.
