Building community is something that fills my soul. Bear is becoming good friends with another boy from school hool who we discovered lives 2 blocks away on our street. I'm only just getting to know his mom but she bought me a chicken to take care of me today because I'm sick. My heart is full.

I generally dislike small talk, but we all do it habitually, and it usually just gets shrugged off. But lately, it feels even more cringe when someone asks what's new or how I am, and I smile and say, "Everything's good!" Or, "Nothing exciting or new!" The inner voice is screaming otherwise.

My socks is all wrong and I'm wearing shoes that are difficult to get on. This sock situation is a delicate balance for people with sensory issues... too tight and you're screwed, too loose, same.
I'm 44 yrs old and I can barely keep it together. Trying to keep that perspective for my 9 yr old.

We see a teacher moments after, who i think must be a coach for some sort of sports ball... he has a giant ash cross on his forehead. I'm not sure if my kid ran off to class because he's just becoming more independent or if he was embarrassed that he questioned a teacher's beliefs. 🧵

We pass a catholic church on our way to school and usually the parking lot is empty but, of course, today it was packed and Bear asked about it. I realized it was Ash Wednesday so my inquisitive 9 year old had to know what that meant. 🧵

It's tough getting older! I haven't been in the pool with the intent of doing laps since before Bear was born. I thought it would be fun tonight to hop in while he was in lessons... my arms feel like someone is stabbing my muscles. Ugh. Stay in shape while you're young!

I've been working on a tool for over a year and just presented on it. Roll out happens in March. This will actually yield government efficiencies and provide transparency. Wish we could convince the current administration that investing in people and tools is how we save money.
