Just want to add… no offence to the good and hospitable people of UAE. Some people are there because they fled wars and terrible situations in other parts of the world. And most people are not their governments, aside from the paid influencers who mask the country’s ongoing human rights abuses.

You can’t really blame them… there isn’t much freedom of speech there. But what’s hypocritical are the Westerners who praise that part of the ME while pointing fingers at other countries in the region for human rights abuses. When they benefit, they look the other way. So artificial.

“Make Lebanon Christian again”? President is CHRISTIAN, almost half the country is Christian/deep Christian history. Like who the heck raised you to feel so superior tho?! Lebanese share the same language, food, music, history, corrupt government, plastic surgeons, botox providers, coiffures etc.,

When some advocates, claiming to speak for an entire people, engage in anti-Arab, anti-Muslim, and anti-immigrant rhetoric, dismiss human-rights abuses elsewhere, and align with the Conservative/MAGA right, distance from left-leaning spaces is predictable.

Some Instagram posts I’ve seen recently have me thinking… why do some people react with disgust when mistaken for being Arab when they’re not. Like, just correct it, kindly. We live in today, not 2,000 years ago.

…I was talking to a friend about how Etsy’s lost its “artisanal” flair w/ shops now selling mass-produced items instead of handmade items. One thing it still has going for it is the built-in customer marketplace. Are there any alternatives with built-in traffic for small-batch makers?

People in parts of ME are fighting different systems but face the same injustice… authoritarian rule/being denied the right to decide their own future. They deserve to live freely… anyone intentionally throwing other ethnic groups under the bus in the process to win Western support can shove it.
