Batten down the hatches! We are sullied but unbowed! Trump may be the dark night of the American soul, but I believe morning will come. Reader. I think therefore I write.

It's come to my attention that some people believe you can't buy a new book until you've read the books you already have. Let me assure you, as both a lawyer and a writer, that this idea is legally and morally WRONG and BAD. Buy more books.

If, by any chance, you're a Republican or MAGA trying to reach your elected representatives to - oh, say... complain about a thing or two, please be prepared to be called a Soros plant or some such dismissive b.s. You know you're not. We know you're not. They just don't want to talk to you.

Why do I find bsky such a frustrating experience? Opening myself for a one-time kick in the butt: what am I doing wrong?

We're all at some stage of deciding what voices to listen to & protect, what media to trust (hint: none), how best to contribute our $$ & time to 'party' and other partners & allies in democracy who are actually in the fight, not just promising "Stick w/ us, we've got some fun stuff coming up." 1/

🤨 Sometimes I miss the interaction on Twitter (grrr) so tell me:
-Are you comfortable with Musk having control of the US Treasury (and all of your personal information)?
-How do you feel about axing the Consumer Protection Bureau?
-How 'bout plans to deep-six the FDIC?
-Flooding the Central Valley?

I don't believe in retiring to an echo chamber primarily because, when the enemy comes, I want to know what I'm up against. I'm staying on FB and keeping NYT (though, for the foreseeable future, The Guardian will be my morning paper). What sources are you depending on?

Despite the fact that I get zero interaction here on Bluesky (whine), I'm strongly advising that everyone tighten up their accounts on all social media platforms, particularly FB - go "friends only" to minimize manipulation and use the tips in www.eff.org/deeplinks/20...
Mad at Meta? Don't Let Them Collect and Monetize Your Personal Data

This is going to be a bit long so bear with me because it seems that when Trump held the mirror up to America's ugliness an inconceivable number of people recognized themselves and liked what they saw. This talk of attaching strings to California assistance, these rumors that LA is diverting...

@drlucyjones.bsky.social The Ring of Fire seems to have gotten a bit twitchy over the last few hours. Should this concern us? Or is it just a consequence of the meeting of the three plates yesterday?

Regarding Brian Thompson's death: yes, the reaction has been ghoulish. But it has also been a stunning and damning reflection of the resentment against for-profit health care companies and their too-frequent cavalier attitude toward the people who depend upon them. @karaswisher.bsky.social

Does it occur to anyone else that, between the Biden pardon and the death of Brian Thompson, we're reduced to impotently debating ethics in hell?
