Reading: “Born A Crime” by Trevor Noah

Just Finished: “The Testaments” Atwood
When analysts start downgrading McDonald’s stock because people on GLP-1s are eating differently and don’t want heavy food, New Orleans restaurants need to wake up and start serving more healthy options. My restaurant spending is probably down 90%, I’m just not interested in going.

Let’s look at the abundant lies Entergy is telling in this update on when power will be restored.

“Caused by Unknown”- no, you know it was MISO and “load shedding”

“8430 customers affected” - No, I’ve seen numbers from 50,000-100,000!

Why do we pay more for so much less? #nola

This book has been so critical for me in educating myself about perimenopause and menopause. Once I understood how little education doctors get on this and hormones during med school, I understood I have to be proactive. It’s $2.99 today on Amazon or Apple.

Christone “Kingfish” Ingram IS the blues. If you ever get the chance to see him, do it. He closed out one of the best Jazz Fest Sundays in years! #jazzfest

Hey @flavorflav.bsky.social here’s the video of you singing “911 Is a Joke”, while Jon Batiste plays the cowbell.

He was very energetic, and jumped up on a speaker to sing to the crowd. Whatever vitamins he’s taking, I need to know!

Disappointed in Senator Cassıdy for voting to confirm RFĶ Jr. You know better, but won’t take a hard vote to protect your constituents.

What’s for dinner? I’ve kind of slacked off posting since before Christmas. Going to get back to it, because it helps me plan and focus.

Tonight is Chili Lime Sheet Pan Fajitas- 10/10

Defending one’s Mental health is going to be critical. This is what I’m doing for mine, for the foreseeable future. Plenty of thoughtful news and info is still coming through.

Oh New Orleans. This is the building that caught fire. Should have been demolished sooner. I would bet the owners were still arguing with insurance.
Now Miss Lilly’s car got obliterated in the collapse.
Going to go eat some of her delicious Pho and spring rolls so she can buy a new car.

What I’m Cooking today: Tyler Florence’s Pork Butt Recipe

And Eating Well’s Vinegary Slaw. It will all be ready tomorrow.

I’ve made this so many times over the years and it never fails. I don’t like the slaw included in the Florence recipe so I sub it out for this one.

Happy New Year!

Meatless Monday. Is it Monday? It’s the time of year I don’t even know what day it is. Time to make something warm and soothing.

Just make this. So easy, so delicious. Originally from Food and Wine. I made it with a sweet potato instead of potato. And dried oregano because I had no fresh.. winter food 🔥

Went to make dinner tonight and someone in my family had already eaten some of the ingredients, so I couldn’t make what I had planned.

So I looked at what I had on hand, and made this, and oldie but quite goodie:

Friday is Stir-Fry/ Asian.

Got this recipe from TikTok. After the election, trying to get some equilibrium, I just decided it was better off to delete it off my phone and haven’t gone back. A lot of good recipes to be found there.

Read “Dying of Whitness” is one of the best things I could have done at this point in time.

Thursday is Pasta Day, so making Marcella Hazan’s Bolognese.

Thursday has always been my favorite day, which I attribute to the school cafeteria in Mississippi serving very crispy tater tots every Thursday of middle school.

Making a double batch and will be freezing some for low GAF days

Sheet Pan Wednesday. This is a recipe I haven’t tried before, but was highly recommended.

Thoughts for today:
Looking forward to Mardi Gras. May switch from a riding krewe to a walking krewe next year. Thinking about it.
