The skies were in our favor this weekend, so we packed cameras in to the car and headed out. This bovine mom and youngster were far down a dirt road in the middle of nowhere

I'm glad we got to go back and visit Pella (Iowa) again last fall. If you've never been - there are lots of windmills and other Dutch connections, including the Vermeer windmill shown here. It's a replica of one in the Netherlands

While there's not a lot of water and fewer truly green spaces in Arizona, there are a few manmade oases, like The Windmill Winery & Event Center in Florence. I never expected to see an egret when I left home this morning.

In my part of the world, virtually every flat (or nearly flat) surface is seen as an opportunity for art. Case in point: this painted trash recepticle in Miami, Arizona.

After a prolonged dry spell - literal and figurative - we went out and did photography this weekend. We drove into the old mining town of Hayden, Arizona. While not technically considered a ghost town... this is downtown. And this is the GOOD part of downtown. Same shot, bnw & color.

We take a lot of ghost-town photos and pictures of things that are old. So many of them evaporate over time - sometimes short time. This marvelous little burger spot is an example. The restaurant still exists, but they moved to a modern, soulless building.

Been insanely busy for the past few weeks. Last weekend, though, took a detour to see an old friend about half an hour away. Snapped this vivid hibiscus outside the place we had lunch.

Wildflowers - taken near Sasco ghost town in March 2024. I miss flowers and greenery. (Almost no rainfall this year so wildflowers will likely be stragglers only)

Upcoming project (and new scissors!) Dress or a split skirt and top - and the print, if I can make it work, will be a corset or stays. Fingers crossed!

We were fortunate enough to get gorgeous cloudy skies over the weekend, and we grabbed our cameras and ran for them. With the right skies and framing, even a desert winter turns magical.
