I know this argument will not end, that rejection of transgender people will always be a part of our lives.

But I also know exactly who I am. And I know that trans people are a beautiful and everlasting part of the human experience. No one has to agree. We just want to live in peace. Let us live.

Kaohly will be a great mayor for Saint Paul. Congratulations, friend.

She has passed the baton of the Reproductive Freedom Caucus chair into my hands—a huge honor for a trans woman. When the free water bill was dying in Commerce Committee, Kaohly picked it up and fought for it, pushing my little bill into a major legislative win.

I literally am following in her footsteps: She has trusted me to carry the E.R.A. after she pushed for years as author (and she comforted me when we couldn’t get it through the senate on the last day of 2024; through my tears she smiled and said ‘we will get it done, one day’. We will!!).

And personally, I want to thank Kaohly for being an incredible mentor and friend to me, in my short political career.

this is not to say the threat is not real and urgent. It absolutely is. we must be prepared for the outcomes Trump seeks. But we are still not powerless. We are never powerless. And in Minnesota we will fight like hell to protect what we have built.

Stay safe keep fighting.

When the final rules are released, there will be litigation. From every direction, from every state, we can muster. Our Democratic attorneys generals# are ready to go, as our legal teams across the legal and non profit sectors. court cases may offer a relief for a time.

I’ll have more to say about it later, but I want to let folks know these are proposed rules. They have not been released. When they are, there will be a public comment period of 30-60 days. After the public comment period there will be a month at least, likely more, before final rules are released.
