Teen Librarian (and YA novel enthusiast), fan of the White Sox & Fulham (but also too many other teams for this bio), cats, vinyl, craft beer & TV. Vaguely between Leftist & Liberal, Lived several places, but 630 is always my area code.
Sounds like it's time to break out this meme I made back in the day...

Ope, just gonna squeeze in here and be that guy for a second: if we're talking about memory hole-ing a guy for being a POS, Encarnacion is not the one... This is the only argument against Jones' HOF candidacy IMHO.

I had a lower rarity, but only 8 White Sox because Silver Sluggers/Pitched 1 game is always hard for me- I always go safe with Zambrano and TIL that Daniel Hudson won a Silver Slugger...

Hopefully, fall will make a comeback because basically two weeks of fall weather between summer and snow-clearing season is pretty bleak...

Actually haven't been to either- thought about Fatty's but didn't bc I wanted to be a bit closer to home before eating. NIU added a goals in the 2nd half BTW. Pretty dominant performance (some shots on goal missing and a lot of shots just wide/over, etc. and Bowling Green's shots were pretty tame).

I'm apparently the sort of sicko who will watch college soccer #MACtion in November. NIU are up 2-0 at the half though, so it's all good.

Ironically, I actually earnestly say "Where's Bender?" and "I miss Bender" often, because I adore this little jerk...

People who threaten to and even who do leave Blue states are all basically like this Futurama scene. Like "Oh no, we'll have to hear your dumb opinions about how taxes are a human rights violation and racist conspiracy theories online instead of in person"

Fun random thing from last night: I was chatting in Slack with some friends in my Fantasy league and one of them dropped an all-timer instant cold take (not that any of us could've predicted Rojas doing that).

Since October is the month where every sport is going on and my bandwidth is spread wide, all I've seen of the Bulls (or the NBA in general) is box scores. As such, all I can say about the NBA where the Bulls start 5-0 is this...

Anyway, here's my grid:

Belated National Cat Day post, because they do cute things every day.
October 31, 2025 at 4:09 AM
Disclaimer: I haven't met a lot of fanbases and both my cats are sweethearts, but trying anyway. Bender gives chaotic, almost self-destructive "look at me, Bender" energy, so I'll say Mets. Leela is shy & sweet, but can have a loud voice & is sneaky tough- so I'll say Jays. But also both White Sox.

It took 16 years for #cf97 to win a playoff game. In 2009, I was in grad school and had only started dating my wife a few months earlier. In between, a lot has happened. Including living in Florida for the Fire's last couple playoff appearances. I'm so glad to be back home to witness this one.

25 years ago, it would've seemed impossible that a GOP pres. candidate would lose formerly red DuPage by double digits & draw 2,500+ people in protest of his policies (NOT including totals from 3 other DPC protests). Then again 25 years ago, "fascist" was more existential fear than accurate...

I legit feel that I must have cursed the Brewers. Anyway, tonight felt like as good a time as any to have a Chicago handshake. It's my belated response to the Rockies winning their 42nd game and dooming the 2024 White Sox to continue to be the worst team since 1901...

#ILAAC25 is wrapping up, so time for me to post belatedly about it. It was nice to catch up with Teen Librarians and hear a lot of ideas that I wishfully think we can do. Also, Dilla and Roy Kinsey are local treasures. Hope to *finally* go on one of Dilla's neighborhood tours soon...

Not my original work, but one of my all-time favorite memes since it's both a crossover reference to two of my all-time favorite TV shows (Star Trek: TNG and the Good Place) and a great one liner for people who still want to celebrate a genocidal monster for some reason...

At work, teens were being foolish filming themselves with a VR headset and at home, Bender (who is 1 1/2, which is basically the cat years equivalent of a teenager) decided to take apart his water. Proving regardless of species, teenagers do obnoxious things that are still admittedly kinda funny.

He's dead last in the Central League in ERA for pitchers with over 100 IP (filtering to 50+ IP, he's still last). Also 19th of 22 in WHIP (47th of 52 for 50+ IP). The league ERA is 2.97, so his ERA was literally 1.5x the league average. Dude is so washed. You love to see it.

Stuff like this is why I always keep this meme handy...
October 7, 2025 at 4:59 PM
Picked Cameron for Mariners 100+ RBI which was great for the rarity score, but meant I was stumped on Padres/Mariners. Didn't realize Zach Duke played for the M's. I had a 3 rarity over 7 former Sox and then 30 for those two slots because all I could think of were Rickey and Arozarena...

(Thread of undetermined length) I follow a lot of people who were in the Bluesky Fantasy league, not sure how many are mutuals- but regardless, nlet me tell you why finishing 9th in this 20 team league feels as good as winning it or advancing deep in the playoffs...
