Starting work on the annual photo-calendar for Old Mother Llama - featuring the most baffling & confusing shots of me and @hordeofduck.bsky.social that I can find.

Only rule: Each month's photos must come from the preceding year's similar month (Jan == Jan) which yields some bizzarro combinations

On the phone to Old Mother Llama who threw in the phrase 'Oh we were all at hats and caps over it'.

Honestly, never a conversation with her goes by without a totally new phrase which she swears blind she's always used comes up! 😀

More late in laws house clearance fun today...

Best discovery with Baby in the last 12hrs since her installation - Steam now downloads at 15/16mbps over the previous 'highs' of 4.0 on a good day.

It's still glacial, but it IS the max our current countryside shonky pipes will allow. Might mean I can down a new game in slightly less than a month!

Nothing like a night of lucid dreaming concerned with trying to fit a new egg-rack inside a kitchen in a house I no longer live in to start your day with a 'What the heck was that all about?'

I mean, I have a perfectly serviceable egg slide thingy in my kitchen these days!

Wife just accused me of 'accidentally rocking the Jamiroquai look' while I was cooking dinner.

The flamming cheek of her, no idea where she got that idea! 🤔

New PC up, humming and glowing away happily to itself, as I spend the afternoon transferring all my data across and keep discovering programmes I forgot to install as of yet.

Like Acrobat so I could read Mrs Dr Llama's new hoover's instructions. (As a manual...it sucked!)

Out with the old...In with the new.

Which, yes, does rather look like a TARDIS now you mention it...

Revisions to the Eurovision voting rules for the 11ieth time.

Will it make it any fairer? Will it disuade the dodgy voting practices? Will it let Moldova claim their rightful crown? Will it stop the country boycotts for 2026?

>shrugs<

Oh heavens, I just had to call on the enthalpy of a solution to answer a question Mrs Llama had about her washing liquid. That's rusty knowledge from a few decades past!!
November 20, 2025 at 3:10 PM
'GET OFF YOU FAT B@STARD!' roars Mrs Llama from downstairs.

Confused, as I'm quietly working upstairs, I tentatively stick my head out the office door.

Turns out Mr Nutkins the Garden Squirrel is attempting to overcome the anti-squeaker dome over the bird feeder again.

Such the drama. 😂

Evening enlivened by four academics exchanging nonsense sounds clips in place of conversation.

Worked pretty well.

The post-sickness fun of wading through 11ty billion pending emails and trying to remember what it was all about.

That's basically my morning I think.

Huzzah - first day since Sunday, where breakfast hasn't been followed by the hunt for the 2nd hankie of the day.

Also, we've had light snow overnight - winter-draws on!

Some more light reading from the in-laws' shelves. A family bible (one of two we have acquired from them) with space to trace a century of lineage in the flyleaf.

Thing is...no one ever filled it in.

Now to work out what to do with them!

Went for a country lane stroll to clear my lungs. Much needed, even if I still feel blurgh with this cold.

Amazing how quickly the neighbours move off when I meet them and mention I'm down with the sickness. 😅
November 18, 2025 at 10:55 AM
Ah, and so we reach the 'desperately need to shave, but my nose is too chapped from sneezing' stage of the cold.

Such fun this one.

Finally finished slogging through Alien: Earth.

I was rooting for Mr T Eyeball Esq by the end.
November 17, 2025 at 2:30 PM
Ah good, now Mrs Llama is down with my foul cold as well.

I'll tell you this for nothing, it's going to be a fun Casa della Llama for a few days...

Apparently it was Children in Need on Friday.

Literally no idea until just now when I was trying to find this week's HIGNFY...and discovered it wasn't on.

Darn it!

Today is brought to you in association with the common cold and the number 'Blurgh'

Ah good, Mount St B's is literally just down the road from Casa Della Llama - so, yeah it was wet here yesterday.

Today...let's watch the local floodwaters rise!
Storm Claudia brought lots of rain leading to flooding as well as widespread travel disruption

Top totals include Mount St Bernard Abbey in Leicestershire recording 96 mm since Friday 14th November 0700 am👇
