This is a little old but if I'm following this chart from a 2017 538 article ... it basically makes no difference. (Margin after the TD would be -9.)

I’m usually not a fan of engaging with grok … but these are pretty funny.

Jesus Christ.

Grok defaming a Palestinian journalist … and then, in the replies, seemingly alternating between saying “no it’s true” and “oh wait I actually don’t have any evidence; this guy should be respected.”

1. Donald trump was listed twice. See pic of 2020 ballot (also happened in 2024).

2. Let’s also be clear: she believed that because Mamdani was listed twice, one voter could cast 2 votes for him. Even if you don’t like fusion voting, that’s wrong.

Naomi Wolf is claiming election fraud re: the NYC mayoral election … somehow I doubt I’m going to be able to persuade her otherwise.

Insane comeback for Texas ... gotta feel bad for Arch Manning. His best game in a not-good season ... and it clearly looked like he was badly concussed after a big hit to the head (his teammates pulling him up limp).

... If nearly 100K Israelis were killed in strikes, I doubt people like this would be saying "well wait a second, before we push for the strikes to stop, we should recognize this is a great opportunity for leverage—let's insist Israel get better on human rights."

But, and I'm not an expert in this AT ALL, haven't we seen polarization in multi-party countries?

In France's last elections for example, the far-left and far-right parties had the biggest gains: also, the far left took more than the center left, and the far right took more than the center right.

Not that long ago, the tension within the Democratic Party was framed as a choice of principal focus: left social stances or left economic stances.

Now, though, Klein and others seem to want conservative/semi-libertarian economic stances to be the party's one core belief.

"Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."

She also says she contacted Sbux and they told her that statement was about a different matter ... huh?

"Whoops! We told the press about an internal investigation of that specific store concerning a matter that *didn't* go viral ... and we forgot to clarify what matter we were talking about!"

This person who (with her family) was responsible for the original claim ... is now demanding that her "team" be given access to the security footage.

I didn't see this story until after Starbucks denied it, but it's absurdly unbelievable.

Some random Sbux employee ... recognized Kirk's order (??) ... and decided "hey that order ... a tea with honey ... is so specific to Kirk that I'm going to write 'Loser' on this cup"?????

This was the evening of day 4 (3 days after the killing).
September 18, 2025 at 3:40 PM
Surely this can’t be true!!
September 16, 2025 at 11:32 PM
For the first time in 5 days, a Kirk-related story is not at the top of the NYT homepage.

Sorry maybe I cut off the quotation at a weird point and made his meaning less clear. King definitely knew poor whites fully psychologically embraced Jim Crow.

Not doing another package tracking saga, but I have some doubts that my package that was apparently last seen in Puerto Rico will arrive to my place in NYC by 9pm tonight.

(This package has gone from Idaho to Washington State to Puerto Rico ... I guess to NY next? Maybe Maine first, who knows.)

So nativism is "central" to Trump's authoritarianism (and, not mentioned, his election campaigns! remember "build the wall"? only his effectuation has been unpopular!) ... but somehow incidental to his rise/amalgamation of power?

I thought law logic puzzles were tough—hat tip to you historians.

I’m not familiar with Hasselby (sorry) … but … what are we doing here?

“Trump is more like Obama than Nixon because of Trump’s antagonism towards elite universities” feels like a claim you could make only if you accidentally confused Obama and Nixon.

Sorry last one this is my favorite … IF YOU DIDN’T WANT TO ANSWER THIS WHY WOULD YOU ASK IT?!??!? HOW DOES SOMEONE FIND THEMSELVES HAVING TO DEFLECT A QUESTION THAT THEY, UNPROMPTED, ASKED OF THEMSELVES?
