"in the midst of the storm" is a very badly chosen metaphor. A "storm" will pass. But the climate problem will keep getting worse. It will not pass until after humans are extinct, an eventuality that may be coming soon.

Fascism = rule by bullies

Our seeming democracy is really plutocracy, rule by the rich. I would describe fascism as rule by bullies. Our society went through a phase, a few years ago, of saying "bullying is bad," but we seem to be out of that now. People like ICE apparently equate bullying with strength.

I still have hope that people will awaken to friendship. But it will have to be soon, or else we're going extinct.

Russia's invasion was not unprovoked. One reason was Kiev bombing all the Russian-speaking Ukrainians in eastern Ukraine. Another reason was NATO lining up troops and weapons along the Ukraine-Russia border, pointed at Moscow. Russia offered peace plans but Boris Johnson said no.

I was born in 1950, and in my youth I always thought of "the future" as meaning the year 2000. Since the year 2000 I've always felt that now we're "living in the future." Aside from the internet, I haven't seen any big changes.

Both the R and D parties have TERRIBLE foreign policies, and mostly the SAME foreign policies, because they have the same donors. Likewise for healthcare, climate, and a few other issues.
