Some humans are ecologists and climatologists. It would be a step forward if those of us who do not have the training and knowledge of ecologists and climatologists, could recognize the great value of that training and knowledge. If we could step away from the ignorance Asimov described.

I don't think so. "Human nature" is very malleable; different cultures have diffferent "normal" behaviors. Our present culture is a very sick one, in my opinion -- we need to change our culture to a healthier one. We need more friendship, more empathy. Here I side with Arendt, not Musk.

I could be mistaken, but I think land theft can be motivated by greed, or even beauty. One can be indifferent to the victims one is removing; one doesn't need to hate them. Manifest Destiny was seen as beautiful by the "settlers."

This coming Saturday is the No Kings demonstration in most cities. You can shop for a costume between now and then. If you want to be REALLY badass, print out some leaflets before Saturday, and try to hand them out. That's what I'll be doing.

I made myself a Halloween costume a couple of years ago, but I haven't used it yet. Maybe I'll get up the nerve this year? Keep in mind that I'm 75 years old. The main ingredients are gloves, cape, helmet, leaflets, and a T-shirt that says "SUPER LEAFLETEER."

I was greatly inspired by a recent statement Elon Musk made about empathy. I believe just the opposite, but now I feel better about saying so.

If there is any chance of the left capturing the Democratic Party, it must begin with understanding the LIE of that party. That party's politicians pretend to believe in empathy, but all but a handful are lying about that.

... The D's (the politicians, that is, not the voters), also do not believe in empathy, but in their rhetoric they pretend to believe in empathy. Anti-empathy is a basic ingredient of capitalism.
