Ignatz (squinting and sticking his tongue out in concentration): "I think... this should do it. Let's see..." [Panel 2:] Ignatz steps back from the canvas, holding his paintbrush at his hip and scratching his chin with his other hand. He's blushing, looking modestly pleased with himself. Ignatz: "Huh! / I guess I'm not so bad at still-life paintings after all." [Panel 3] is a full shot of Ignatz's finished painting on the easel, palette and brush resting alongside it, the subject visible in the market stalls behind it. We see he's been painting the fruit stand's oranges with stunning accuracy, beautifully capturing the pixelated, low-resolution texture stretched over a single nondescript low-poly lump in a basket. He's even signed it with a monogram, his initials shaped in such a way as to mimic his glasses.

A weathered letter, written in a neat, bubbly hand and backlit by one of the library sconces, reads, "No matter what I do, my mind always wanders off when I'm trying to do something important. Sure there's more interesting things to do, but sometimes I just need to sit down and get work done. / Is there anything I can do to help me focus? I can't just keep putting important work off forever." [Panel 1:] Claude sits at one of the library desks, one large book with a purple cover open in front of him, and another, smaller one with a green cover open in his lap. Between them, all sorts of homework and study materials are spread across the desk surface. Pasha's in the seat next to Claude, working on his own "homework:" a bone and a "prickleball" (pinecone). Patting Pasha gently on the head with his quill hand, Claude answers (in narration), "Pain is a great motivator! That's why I've been training Pasha to bite me when I get distracted from my schoolwork." Pasha bows his head and shuts his eyes, looking proud of himself; he adds, "yeah. and! no gentle bites neither. / [smaller text:] it's important cause khalid gotta learn how to be even more smarter and stronger. and then nobody will try and hurt him never again." [Panel 2:] Pasha is himself distracted at this moment as Annette walks into frame carrying a pile of books almost as tall as she is, for what that's worth. She's about to set it next to a similar pile on the table next to her, and, as is her way, is singing cheerfully to herself, her speech bubble framed by music notation. Annette [to the tune of "The Edge of Dawn"]: "My dearest wish / Is that I may~ / Read every book / And not even have to pay~" [normal speech bubble:] "Juuust gotta set these down here...." Pasha wears an intensely focused expression as he locks onto Annette, eyes wide and pupils narrow, nostrils flared, the commissures of his mouth pulled back like a dog's on alert. Pasha: "rrrrrrrrr but but. i wanna knock over that book pile so so so bad. / and make them go all everywheres." [Panel 3:] In an instant, Pasha has acted on his impulse. He's standing on Annette's table, wings spread, roaring out a "guhWARRRRROOOWWRAAARRRgghhh!!!" (the text bulges in the middle) and kicking over the stack of books with an audible *PUNT!*. He looks like he's having great fun, probably imagining himself some sort of giant kaiju. Annette, dismayed, yells, "CLAUDE!! MAKE HIM STOP!!" Claude takes up the foreground from his shoulders up, scratching the back of his head and looking behind him at the camera, annoyed. Claude (narration): "...Okay, so it was a dumb idea. I'm allowed to have those too, alright?"
