Question for the teacher types here, why is there such a gulf between academies and LEA schools in number of parents taking children out to home educate?

Fascinating insight from BBC sport pundits predicting the top 4 here. Wonder how they came up with these?

How does one reach a place in life where Nigel Farage can be someone too "woke" for you?

Exposition like this is what takes a narrative from good to great. So much backstory and detail in a short interaction. #BookSky

It's much nicer on here still, but twitter is giving me some real highlights this evening. Seems Elon is busy burning bridges on the right, whilst also...saying he helped a paedophile get into office. Masterful gambit.

Despite what Alick on Facebook may say, I really can get a meeting with the DfE to discuss mental health and wellbeing training for school staff if enough people contribute to my research (via policy engine and UoY). My 5 minute survey for teachers is here: tinyurl.com/York-Survey

Sometimes see things about how expensive vegan food is. We spend ~£120-130 a month on food as a family of 3. This is a week's worth of food (plus dates, soy milk, nooch, spices, and kids cereal bought monthly). Anyways, it's pretty doable on a low budget. #vegan

What is it about gentle parenting that costs precisely? Guess it's not for us poors who have to be strict with our kids, lest they run amok and upset the angels being raised by the wealthy. Utter classist drivel from "Britain's strictest headteacher".

Whilst it's good to hear about the reforms at OFSTED and how seriously they are taking wellbeing of school leaders - I just don't feel there has been loads here that will restore trust or make a huge difference yet. National hubs for consistency etc don't address issues for school staff.

Finally watching The Count of Monte Cristo. Feel like I waited forever to get to see this. Just in time ahead of my now weirdly annual tradition of reading the book every January. Anyone else have a regular reread like that?

Today we seem to have Captain Hook's ship being taken over by the turtles and Brock Lesnar. The fascinating world of a 4 year old in betwixtmas.

One of the best moments of a horrendously tough year. Taking my little lad to see Santa on the steam train. Recommend NYMR Santa trains. Also recommend as much family time as possible.

Another glg on a school night because apparently I will never, ever learn 🤦‍♂️ 20 years waiting to see Magic Numbers after I missed them due to a 9am GCSE the next day. Worth the wait.

I'm feeling the pressure to make this—my 100th post here—a worthwhile one. So, here it is: a picture of my dog, Albie. This was taken back when he was at work with me, before retiring as my seizure assistance dog. He fully deserves this recognition.
