I've been providing reflective supervision to school leaders for over a year now.

Neither counselling nor therapy, case-based supervision has given them a space to share, reflect on, and rethink how they tackle the weighty challenges they face.

It helps. Each of them has renewed for a second year.

Truly great lecture. Having worked with @APPGMenBoys on boys achievement along with some great school leaders, it’s good to get this conversation some traction. Just let’s make sure this is not a binary dialogue - boys and girls, men and women both need security, opportunity, confidence and support.

I don't generally go nuts for learning from leaders in other domains, but I would strongly recommend Gareth Southgate's Dimbleby Lecture. I found what he said about creating the right culture spot on and quite moving. He brings together when so many are keen to divide. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis...

Sir Martyn Oliver references the recommendation in ASCL's Blueprint for a Fairer Education System for a balanced scorecard - but disagrees with our suggestion that schools & colleges should be evaluated as simply having met or not met standards in different aspects of education. #ASCL2025

The Ofsted report card timeline will leave "little time for schools" to prepare for changes - @ascl-uk.bsky.social would be ready to see the new approach "introduced later" than Sep 2025.

As a reminder, this is how we at @ascl-uk.bsky.social would like to see report cards introduced:

- based on a clear set of standards, set out in legislation
- schools evaluated on whether or not they meet those standards
- schools which don’t supported to do so

Very sensible set of principles outlined here by @beckyfrancis.bsky.social for the curriculum & assessment review, including seeking evolution not revolution, not seeking to change what’s working, and minimising the impact on workload. Not easy to achieve, but absolutely the right starting point.
