I wrote this almost 10 years ago. It was always clear to see where the US was heading if you really wanted to face the truth. Most of the "progressives" did not. At the time, I lived in New York. Today I truly don't know if I will ever (be able to) set foot in the US again.

So, literally in a matter of days Europe went from trying to normalize Assad to get rid of Syrian refugees to begging Syrians to stay to save the economy and the health sector. 👏

But I do have this to say: fuck every smug bastard who cannot allow Syrians at least a day of untainted relief and joy at ridding themselves of the most vicious tyrant my lifetime has known. Fuck you from me and my Syrian sisters and brothers whose hearts today bleed and sing at the same time.
